He concocted a very good story - What was he going to build again in South Africa? Stadiums?

He made up stories of all sorts. The family borrowed money from OCH and then sold assets to OCH in exchange for the money. Self-dealing. Conflict of Interest. I bailed out years ago. Part of my learning curve. My "conservative" investing is based on such lessons. Good management is important. Even great business with crooks will leave nothing for you.

Sasini - So much land but what is in it for minority shareholders?
OCH
Mumias
Uchumi
KQ

And many, many more.

I got blind-sided by CDC's involvement in ARM but it seems they were also conned by PHP.

OCH - MM lived the high life on the shareholders' dime; company car, club memberships, hired his girlfriends, etc
Mumias - It was THE sugar brand but Kidero & his minions kula'd
Uchumi - It was THE supermarket but cratered under Kirubi & friends
KQ - The most expensive con job ever in the NSE. $1.2bn+ gone in the wind!

And many, many more.
