In 2018:

Dubai earns $18.7bn from 16m tourists
Ethiopia earns $7.4bn from 1.4m tourists

These stats tell us that we attract students and backpakers as tourists

What tourists attraction are there in Ethiopia (that beats Kenya), asking for a friend?

1.Lucy
2. lalibela sewn rock churches
3. Gondar
4.Erta Ale
5. Blue nile falls
6. Girls
7. Shashamane village

Laughing out loudly Applause smile

Most Kenyan 'tourists' are actually Chinese, Europeans workers who get in as tourist with 3 month VISA and have to keep on exiting to neighboring country every 3 months and back for another 3 month VISA. If you have worked for these Chinese companies that is how it is. This 'tourists' will not book hotel rooms but will live in shared apartments...Not sure if this changed after Matiangi cracked the whip on work permits

Netherlands has stopped actively promoting some of the destinations to avoid overcrowding. Like France tourist numbers have now surpassed their total population. If Kenya had over 40 million tourists in a year, we'd pay off the Chinese loans in one go.

Not payoff chinese loans but we'll imagine unfeasible projects for people to get 10%

I have realized that West Africans have very little knowledge of East Africa, they have no wild animals, their beaches are dirty they have travel interest and if Kenya would make it affordable many would visit. There's a very big interest of Rwanda from the west. But KTB doesn't see money to eat from that side of Africa.

Hoteliers in Kenya make more effort to sell Kenya than KTB does. BBC sells Kenya more than anyone else in the world.

We have already overborrowed on higher targetsSad

Daily Nation wrote:
Kenya has cut its crude oil export projections to 400,000 barrels per year between 2021 and 2023 in what signals a depressing assessment in the international market.

That forecast is lower than this year’s shipment target of 500,000. Petroleum Principal Secretary Andrew Kamau said the government will focus on field development and construction of a crude pipeline, hence the cut in export plans.

“The ministry projects to export some 400,000 barrels of crude annually for the Financial Year 2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. We are going to concentrate on the development of the oilfields and the pipeline,” Mr Kamau said on Thursday during the ongoing public hearings on 2020/21 sector budget proposals.

A reduction in headcount has pushed down pay-as-you-earn (PAYE) tax, putting the Treasury finances in a precarious position in the first half of fiscal year 2019/20.

As a result of the low collection, cumulative ordinary (mainly tax) revenue underperformed the target by Sh138.7 billion in the half-year period to December. The other poor performers were excise tax and value-added tax (VAT), which are directly connected to business activity.
