https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/corporate/companies/Equity-gets-Sh13bn-discount-in-deal-to-buy-four-African-banks/4003102-5304274-kaa43n/index.htmlEquity Bank Group is set to get a Sh13 billion discount on its purchase of four banks in Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania from a London-listed investment group. Atlas Mara Limited says through its trading report to the London Stock Exchange (NSE) that it marked down the value of the four banks after the Equity Bank deal prompted a due diligence on their financial health. Equity Bank will offer 6.72 percent of its shares worth Sh10.9 billion to Atlas Mara, meaning that the valuation of the four banks dropped by more than half. This is a reflection that Atlas had weak earnings. They must be trying to get out at all cost, 13b discount? hope the market will not be hostile to equity There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope

JM isn't going to pay a penny more than the units are worth. High NPLs,low RoA, etc must have been taken into account. Equity will likely do well in these markets but it will take some time. If the businesses/banks that Atlas Mara is selling are better than what Equity thinks they are then Atlas gets a payoff. If not then Equity doesn't have to pay anything more. I am OK, as a shareholder in Equity, to pay Atlas Mara for better performance/value after it is proven out. Greedy when others are fearful. Why would he want to give her $millions? Let's discuss businesses and investments not people's personal lives on Wazua. I am sure there is a Namibian WhatsApp/FB group you can join for such nonsense. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

Wameanza kuharibu soko!! And the way I have been accumulating chini ya maji. And I ain't done yet! Still buying more of these share over the last couple of months. Been buying at between 38/= and 40/=. I have almost doubled my holding in the stock. Still remaining with more to buy of the next couple of weeks to hit my record. I would have preferred 35/= - 36/= but hey, it is not about timing the market. It is about the time in the market. And I really needed to buy a huge chunk to start playing timing games! Remaining lot hopefully I buy at a lower price. Probably at a higher one given the demand and supply patterns. I have have bought so much of Equity Bank shares, I feel like I literally own the Bank!!! Not as a shareholder. As the dude who owns this sh!t!! The buying spree almost coming to an end. I am soooooo glad I went all in. I threw everything at this stock!!! Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

All the best in your investment endevours. Thanks fellow investor. I now have significant skin (as @vvs would put it) in this stock. It is receiving bad press and for good reason, but I am a veeeery long term investor. The future is bright! @vvs should lend me a pair of sunglasses!! I have also gone heavy on Kenya Re. You will receive a tongue lashing from the All Knowing MugundaMan Wachana na @MugundaMan. He thinks there is only one investment avenue. We are also in real estate others are in import - export, others are in farming, others are traders, some in forex etc. You get money where get it. @MugudaMan is the kind of fellow who imagines everyone should open a butchery just because he has a series of butcheries!!! Woe unto you if you open a hardware!!! You are in the hardware casino and you need to close it ASAP and open a butchery!!! Where is this @Mugundamn!!!??? I am more than 32% up in a few weeks and the ride is just beginning!!! Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
