Ericsson wrote:Kipevu I thermal (73.5MW) to be retired once Olkaria V 162Mw is fully loaded to the grid I don't think so. Kipevu 1 has a PPA until 2023. Olkaria V is has come in half, the other half in November 2019. One plant can not retire another one, they have separate tariffs, separate contracts. Early retirement is only possible if they pay off KenGen for the duration to PPA expiry

Transmission losses from Olkaria to Coast are very high. Life is short. Live passionately.

As KenGen's Olkaria V Unit 1 and 2 geothermal power plant has reached full load operation adding now about 160 MW in geothermal power generation capacity in Kenya. With indications from various sources, it is now great to report that Olkaria V has successfully reached full load operations. Units 1 and 2 are now injecting more than 160MW to the national grid. The capacity initially planned as 2×77 MW actually produces 2×85 MW. We congratulate all involved in this great achievement. This achievement reinforces Kenya commitment with renewables and reduction of carbon emissions and global warming. The Olkaria V geothermal plant, is one of the largest geothermal power plants currently under construction and the largest African geothermal plant. The company reporting on the project, STEAM has been developing this project through its Kenyan company SGC to KenGen – Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC. In this fascinating project STEAM has performed for Gathering and Power plant: Concept and Detailed Design, technical specifications & Bid Document Preparation and Pre-Qualification (PQ) documents preparation; Assistance in prequalification, bidding, bid evaluation, negotiations and Award processes for the EPC contractor; Supervision of the construction and commissioning ; Transfer of Knowledge. http://www.thinkgeoenerg...ach-full-load-operation/Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I think commercial and capacity tests for unit one was completed last week...Unit 2 tests are yet to begin. Lastly, this plant doesn't yet have money allocated for it in the current electricity tariffs..

Marketer OiLibya, which is currently operating as Ola Energy, lost 8.5 million litres of fuel between 2012 and 2014 in a racket at the Nairobi terminal involving its own employees, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) staff and KenGen workers.https://www.businessdail...92132-6fion6z/index.htmlGreedy when others are fearful. The Olkaria V plant has successfully reached the full load operation, injecting more than 160MW to the national grid. The extraordinary milestone reinforces Kenya’s commitment to renewable energy sources and the reduction of carbon emission and global warming. Kenya ranked third in renewable energy capital investments in the Middle East and Africa region in 2018. In the year, UNEP reports that Kenya attracted $1.4 billion (KSh145 billion) investments in renewable energy. Furthermore, the Olkaria V unit 1 was synchronized into the national grid towards the end of July 2019. Kenya is among the top ten geothermal producing countries globally with an installed capacity of 612MW. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

The plant will reach longstop Full COD towards mid November...only 1'unit has been tested and commissioned. Each Unit is tested and commissioned separately,in sequence...before the plant as a whole is tested and commissioned....Anyway, When Olkaria V comes, it comes with costs...just like all beautiful girls, they come with High costs to the consumers
