This is one company poised to give the shareholders handsome returns if they will be able to execute their strategy well.

The parent company, The Linde Group was unhappy with the outgoing CEO for the way he handled the Carbacid merger fiasco.

They are keen to enter into the lucrative CO2 business. Being cash rich and with support of its parent company, they should get a fair share of the market in the Eastern African region.

I view BOC today, the same way I did with ARM in 2005, when it was 28bob!!

What do pals here think?

@Guru

The tone was set by the parent company when they sent the longing serving CEO home. He is the one who lacked strategy, I would say.

The incoming CEO has no choice than to work on the strategy to capture the market. Remember there was a major shift in the shareholding when BOC UK, which was the parent company was bought by the Linde group. Now, Linde cannot afford to slumber

A Good CEO is a commodity whose supply is VERY limited world over and in Kenya too. To understand what i am talking about, look at what happened when Mugo Kibati left EACables and they picked an in-house manager for the post. This is just but an example.

@BGL,
Your point well taken. Multinational companies will have no problems in getting good CEOs. Look at EABL, Bamburi, NMG, GSK. Effective structures lack in most of local organisations such that often only one individual is identified with an organisation. Having said that, a huge organisation like Coca Cola suffered when its long serving CEO Robert Goizueta died. His replacement did not impress the major shareholders like Warren Buffet and they had to show him the door

EABL relies on the management depth & training of Guinness.
Bamburi - LaFarge Group
Nation - Aga Khan Group (same for TPSEA, Diamond Trust & Jubilee)
GSK - GSK Worldwide

@VVS before BOC they were bought, they relied on BOC UK. Now they rely on The Linde Group of Germany for Strategic decisions. Linde Group has taken time to flex their mussles since they were trying to navigate in the new horizon. Based on their world wide experience, BOC Kenya should benefit.
