South African mobile phone operator Vodacom Group Ltd on Thursday reported a 4% rise in first quarter revenue as growth from its international business offset a lacklustre performance at home, sending its shares up 2%. Group revenue rose to 21.5 billion rand ($1.55 billion) for the quarter ended June 30, with service revenue up 3.9% to 17.4 billion rand. Despite the impact of cyclones Idai and Kenneth in Mozambique, international service revenue jumped 20%, largely driven by a 42.7% increase in revenue from Kenya’s Safaricom M-Pesa mobile financial services platform and data demand, the company said. https://af.reuters.com/a.../kenyaNews/idAFL8N24Q1SWWealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

Safaricom shareholders are dancing Why should they be dancing/happy? You will know that you have arrived when money and time are not mutually exclusive "events" in you life!

No he wasn't but still it really does not make sense him selling his entire shareholding suddenly! As time goes we shall come to know the reason

As time goes we shall come to know the reason Since he knew Bob was not doing too well, probably he was fearing the impending succession battle, thereafter. He must also have know the GoK's position of wanting a local to be the head. In the business world, everyone is paid in two coins - cash and experience. Gava has made it clear they won't interfere with the process of getting a new CEO. Towards the goal of financial freedom

You cannot trust this government at all I reckon the uncertainty and fear created by GOK move on CEO position might present a buying opportunity in the short term (MJ, foreign investors exiting). In the long term, I doubt GOK will want to kill this goose, so those who are in for the long haul need not worry...my thoughts on this counter.
