Of what use are such stunts in a country where millions will sleep hungry while cities such as Mumbai are but huge dumpsites?

If you can launch to the moon then technically you have capability to put a warhead to any location you want. Pakistan is seeing this and probably wants to launch their own rocket.

That's funny. Any country that wants to fight it's neighbor has to go to the moon first? d'oh!

There are many inventions resulting from space research. These in turn spur economic growth and create jobs.

People need to learn to feed themselves, that should not be the responsibility of govt. When Americans landed on the moon in the 60s there were people sleeping on the streets and the civil rights movement was going on. That didn't stop NASA. Let Indians be, Chinese did it at the beginning of the year, Trump wants to go back, Japan is working with Toyota to create a moon rover. Great discoveries happen while just projects are taking place. It should not come as a surprise if these nations lead in the technological field in the next few decades.

Alot of people would feed themselves..... If governments stopped collecting taxes for meaningless projects. I am still of the opinion that, India has no business in space while it cannot collect shit for its citizens.

Even those who are almost well fed collect taxes.

Taxes are collected from people with incomes. I can guarantee you that if you cannot feed yourself... you are paying 0 to no taxes.
