Wesley Sneider and Joe Cole might play their football at the trafford next season...they are good players, yes...how long can they serve at the trafford. I feel Fergie should be hunting for Blossoming talents more than the old guards..He should be Hunting for oezil,Bastos, and Chilean sanchez
The way I am

Manchester United have rejected claims that they are about to sign Joe Cole, i've also not had anything on Sneider moving to the EPL.

Marex, I see you consider Goal.com, the mirror etc as authorities in transfer stories. These guys are just out for clicks. Don't pay attention to their "Cristiano heading to Barca" type of crap.

That Chilean Sanchez is good! Ozil is quick! Did someone describe Rooney as talismanic?

@ McReggae, on this am like most Englishmen, - I harbour doubt. I support ManU and hope he was "just tired" after a long season.

@Mcreggae..are you kidding me, the Rooney bandwagon at it again!! I was at pains to explain to all and sundry before the end of last season why Rooney is not a world class striker and now we have all seen!! surely only 1 goal on Target 4 games C'mon!!! What a load of Roo-bish!! Don't blame the other players, they are just not good enough!!

The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence; it is to act with yesterday's logic.

Fergie should be looking players who probably didn't show up at the world cup - maybe their countries didn't qualify or they were considered surplus to requirements by a rogue coach [Like Domenech]. Chasing after players who shine at the world cup is a waste of money. Everyone wants them and this pushes their price through the roof. And after all that you might still experience buyers remorse. Do business before the world cup - save yourself money!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Its not easy attempting to classify players into world class or otherwise on the basis of their performance at the WC.

Fact: The Rooney, Messi, Ronaldo and Torres you saw at the WC are not the players we see every other day playing for their clubs. We all know what they are capable of. It will be very misleading to imagine that they are lesser players just because they didnt rise to the occasion as expected. Who would, for instance, have expected Messi not to have scored a single goal thus far?

Look at Brazil. A good number of players in their squad have previously flopped in EPL, yet while playing for the national team they seem to play so well. Does that make them better players? I was really shocked to see Kleberson still playing for Brazil. We all know how Robinho fared at Mancity when subjected to the challenges of the EPL.
IF YOU EXPECT ME TO POST ANYTHING POSITIVE ABOUT ASENO, YOU MAY AS WELL SIT ON A PIN

Exactly brother. Infact looking at all the players who have exceled at the world cup one thing stands out, they are surrounded by very good players, cases in point include Higuain and Villa. Torres Rooney & Drogba just came from injuries and in the case of Rooney & Drogba add the exhausting season they had. Is Eto' not world class???

To discuss Rooney as not world class in naive: Voted best player of the season by fellow proffessionals and praised by virtually all the big/experienced coaches around the globe. Messi and Fabiano just the other day said they dream of partnering Rooney before they end their football carriers. England lacked a player who could even match ValenciaSad

Mwenza & McReggae.....c'mon guys just admit it, Rooney's performance at the World Cup was pathetic. Drogba broke his Elbow just before the world cup but he still managed to get a goal, Torres last match before the World cup was in April but there were some moments of brilliance from him last night as for Messi the only thing missing so far is a goal otherwise he's been fantastic.

Eto'o is a world class player, his dismal performance against Japan can only be blamed on the Coach for playing him on the wing....but anyway atleast he managed to score at the WC. One would have expected Germany & Argetina players (Bayern Munich & Inter) to be exhausted having in mind that most of them participated in the CL final but for Rooney & Drogba to talk of exhaustion...thats unacceptable!

Rooney is a good player but he sucked at the WC. I have lowered my expectation of Rooney and the English game.

You may find these statistics interesting. Of the last 8 teams left in the WC the most represented league is Bundesliga with 37 players followed by La Liga with 33 players. Both Germany and Spain are among the 8 and the entire German team (23) plays in the Bundesliga while 20 out of 23 players in the Spanish team play for La Liga. The Italian league still has 25 players in the WC long after departure of Italy, whose entire team plays in the Italian league. The English league is still represented by 18 players and the entire England team consisted of players playing in the English league. MEANING, Italian and English leagues lead in attracting some of the world's best players, but of the 4 countries, Italian and English local boys got a beating at the WC.
