Not quite. The building at Uhuru park [freedom corner] was to be KANU HQ + 5-star hotel. I don't think it was related to times towers. Time Tower was initially planned as the new HQ of Central Bank. If you look at it closely you will notice design similarities. Then 6 months to completion, CBK announced that they were not interested in a new HQ, they were happy with their current location. So they invited the public to suggest names for the "building adjacent to CBK". There was even some prize money for it. They insisted that the suggested names should bear no relationship whatsoever to "Central Bank" or the letters "CBK". They eventually picked on Times Tower and started looking for tenants - I think CBK owns the building. KRA applied to take the whole building and moved from Community [now, the new Nairobi Law Courts] + NSSF buildings to their new home.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

micasa - dfn. a person with assets (or who knows someone with) who will never get anywhere because he does not know the value of professional advice. i am in that industry... this is how smart people treat us the go to company x ask for a development proposal.. company x thinking they are the only ones.. give their proposals and conditions.. they go to company y and z looking for the same.. at the end of the day.. they compare the proposals... are the proposals complete.. who has the best advice... what is the cost of that advice? based on that they either negotiate with the person they are most comfortable with... 2.5 acres near any CBD is worth more than 200 M... why would you want to invest that from an armchair..????!!! if i was presented with a 200 M plot i would approach it differently.. a properly leveraged development should deliver at minimum 1.4 billion worth of a building of which the owner should retain at least half.. worth 700 M... debt free and all cost of construction, related professionals, legal fees, taxes, stamp duty, interest costs paid up.. the rest is how i earn my bread... @ dunkang... stick to renovations or dam engineering...

From Engineering point of view Dunkang has an idea of what he is saying... though very crude and needs a lot of refining to make sense. Why not just work with a figure of 40k per square meter?
