Actually, what happened after the President went there and made a rant over these people who had "acquired" other people's land? We all blamed Orengo for the mess at the Ministry of Land. Mama Ngilu went and issued titles to people but what about the speculators?

In fact the exact opposite of this is true. Land speculation is detrimental to development. It creates a situation where the value of land becomes too inflated as is the case in Nairobi now. Imagine if a foreign investor is choosing between setting up a factory in Addis Ababa vs Nairobi. If cost of land is his primary decision factor, he will give Nairobi a wide berth.

So basically Kenya is losing job creating ventures and instead much of the land goes to speculators who hardly create any jobs.

Also service delivery by the government is affected. If the gava has to pay more compensation to these land speculators, then they will have less money to build much needed infrastructure which means fewer jobs created and less services delivered by the government.

As Kusadikika pointed out above, the cost of some infrastructure projects is sky high because gava has to compensate speculators. Many gava projects are hindered because of this. The cost to Kenyans is bigger because lack of proper infrastructure means less development and fewer jobs and fewer business opportunities. Basically Kenyans lose and speculators win.
