Make it to the AGM like a serious shareholder and ask the pertinent questions otherwise KQ will have another Sebastian come January next year....

KQ is not Sebastian nor Michael Joseph. KQ is the culture of the staff, the pilots who call in sick after binge drinking at 1824, cabin crew untouchables of high society who sneer at clients, procurement staff who pilfer, baggage handlers who steal perfumes and belts, engineers who down tools in high season.. Sebastian failed to break the culture, though just like Ngunze before him, I wish him well

What is clear, Obiero, is that you are too attached to KQ that you are okay going down with it. And it's alright. No one is begrudging your choices.

But when it comes to investing, sentimental attachments and goodwill toward a particular stock are never a part of investment strategy. That junior employees do not buy leadership's vision is NEVER a reason to hold on to a stock hoping it will turn round.. Investing is about getting a better return on your shilling invested in a particular stock compared to what you would get had you put your shilling in a different counter.

What's your opportunity cost on investing in KQ thus far?

It's 10years since this thread begun, and at the time KQ was trading at mid 50s .. Look at it now? Very few counters can compare to the performance of KQ over the same time period. Your shilling is better invested elsewhere.

Sad bit is that no one can claim that at current price, KQ is undervalued. The only basis of holding it is so as not to actualize loss.

@ProverB I got into KQ in 2014 post rights issue.. One day I will sell.. For now, it is true that I am ready to crash and burn with KQ. I have said the very same thing here severally.. Only reason why I hold is that I am too far deep to get out now. Why should I sell while at 95% dilution rather than wait for the Open Offer..

@sparkly I wasn't certain that the Open Offer recourse would be made available thus decided to average down with my ABP now down to KES 17.49 per share from a high of KES 23.97.. Target had been KES 8.00 to be around the restructuring entry level.. The 10th June AGM should offer better direction.. My hope is that the KQ turnaround narrative goes right, otherwise I will be sunk in a major way

Do not be discouraged. Go all in. In for a penny, in for a pound. Look at the naysayers who laughed at Safaricom at 3/- and can't believe their eyes today! Applause Applause Applause

Really? those are airstrips. KQ does not have small planes that can operate from those airstrips.

You do not burn your hut just because your neighbor has built a palace. We may regret not piling into KQ like @Obiero but I hold no ill-will.
@Obiero, do not listed to sparkly.
BUY, BUY, BUY all the KQ you can buy. You have researched it well for years. You know every number, every flight path, every skeleton and everyone in KQ.
Do not listen to the naysayers. Increase your stake to in KQ. Make it a "conviction trade" by selling everything else and buying into KQ when others laugh at you. Applause Applause Applause

The airline’s total debt stood at Sh82.3 billion by the end of last year, all of it denominated in dollars.

It owes Sh60.3 billion to Citi and JPMorgan, with the facility ideally maturing in 2026. KQ’s debt to Afreximbank stands at Sh17.45 billion, due to mature in 2025.

The airline also holds a Sh4.3 billion 10-year facility taken in 2017 from a consortium of local banks as part of the debt-to-equity restructuring under a government plan to save the airline.

i dont think 82b is too much for kq, i thought it was in arange of 150b to 200b
