This thread is reminiscent of the old Nairobi thread where people wax poetic about how orderly Nairobi was in the 1960s and 1970s before we were overwhelmed by Mwafrikas greed, corruption and lack of foresight. Ask Naija people and they will say the same about Lagos. In Zim they will talk about how their country used to be the bread basket of Africa. Mwafrika naye. We suffer from the same disease but it manifests itself differently.

Interesting! Did/Do they speak Italian-the language of their former rulers? Up North was the British colony. How did the formation of the united Somalia affect them? Btw, been to a Somali biz in Nairobi. The computer keyboards are funny. Someone told me they're Italian keyboards

@alphdoti, even the somalis themselves don't like the turn of events where radical islam has taken over their lives. They suggest that they go back to their original somali culture.

Islam is Islam, it has standards, it has standards for everything. Miniskirts is not Somali culture. If they want to go back to their culture, then they should, and the traditional clothes were good. But if they choose Islam, then they should abide by Islam, and you should not brand that as radical. However, I agree with you that there are those few extremists with wrong ideology giving Islam a bad name. Islam is perfect, but Muslims are not, I always tell you do not confuse the two.

There is a huge difference between westernization and modernization which radicals narrow thinking leaves them too uninformed to understand. Everything modern is labelled "western" and fought. The modern suits and styles are of asian origin (mostly india and china) and can be very decent. The ladies can put a dress reaching her ankles like prophet awours ladies if they want. A New Kenya
