The key to KCB's success is how they will handle branches in S Sudan, Rwanda and Uganda. In Kenya, they may have to settle at number 3 or 2 if they work a little harder

@Borsenmakler - Do you have any of these books (excluding Intelligent Investor) in e-format? If you do, please share.

@all - Congratulations. The sharing spirit shown here is very commendable! This is the Kenya I have always dreamt about. Nobody cares about the others tribe, political affiliation, religion, where they stand on the new constitution etc. etc. I wish this could be replicated countrywide! I have always been proud of the Wazua family but I'm also alive to the fact that they are at a different level intellectually. But if we all tried to change two or three of our not so open minded friends/neighbours/relatives etc. then we will have started the journey towards national cohesion.

@sparkly - Thank you for starting it all. You have just made the lives of huge number of people richer (in more ways than one) by the simple click of a mouse and the kindness of your heart.

Dumb investor. I am also dumb but can share something..I bought Safaricom at over 7 also and access Kenya at 35. But What I did with Safaricom is to keep on buying as the prices went down i.e. dilute the cost. I bought some safaricom shares at 3 and my current cost average is 4.35 meaning that if I sell now as I plan to, I will make a profit even though I dumbly bought at 7. My average of Access Kenya is now 21.62 from a purchase of 35. When Access Kenya starts trading Xd, the price will fall to below 15 and I will buy more to reduce that average to below 20. After that prices will go up and I can then sell.
For KCB if you have money, start buying, you could dilute your price and hold for a year or so. But if you are scared sell and get out before you loose further. But then you will lock the loss. If I were you and had some, I will simply buy. I had ordered some KCB shares at 20, but when they announced the split I cancelled. I plan to take my rights and buy more at 15

I like the averaging concept here. however i think its only a "fire-fighting" techniques. i would propose that an investor first understands and carries out a research on the company he/she wishes to invest in. this will enable the investor buy at a fair market price and also reduce gain losses encountered during averaging.

stocks are not very predictable so diversify diversify diversify.
