Ninety six shillings forty two cents is the EPS of WTK. That is very huge. But with all these money why give a dividend of six bob? History will not remember you for your IQ. It will remember you for what you did. “Genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration.” Thomas Edison

As expected good results, but the dividend per share only 6 bob .Given EPS from operations was 64 shillings i expected better.Maybe the share price will follow the good results upwards.

Not likely with only 6/- dividend... The dividend payout is lower than some firms dividend yield... 6/- on a share costing 215/- is less than 3%.. Greedy when others are fearful. Kapchorua with EPS from operations of 32 half that of WTK,will pay 6.25 per share as dividend, same as WTK.These companies share a board of directors and i wish to know why WTK shareholders have been short changed on this one.

Aly Khan not a happy investor...... May be he can rally investors to vote out some board members. He seems to be heavily invested in agricultural stocks.
Superb results as was expected but terrible dividend payment policy.

Not enough minority shares since Board is controlled (50%+) by UK parent. http://www.finanznachric...eat-performance-020.htm
Aly Khan Satchu, an independent analyst said the proposed dividend for Williamson's shares did not meet expectations. 'The dividend pay out of 6.25 per share was a 'crass' mistake for which there is simply no justification,' he said.
He cited Williamson's earnings per share of 96.42 shillings from 12.62 shillings previously for his dissatisfaction with the proposed dividend. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

@vvs,iam also furious at the dividend fiasco. As an investor i bought into the company to get returns. When the directors show me huge profits and then pay peanuts i am mad at them unless they show me what else they want to do with the money retained.I have been trying the whole afternoon to get the shareholding struture with little luck.Shareholders need an explanation on this.

VVS, I thought your target price was 200 ama after those STUNNING results you have a new target price? I also noticed that they said they were not going to match last years performance in the current financial year. Won't that lead to a drop in the share price this time next year? But I agree the dividend was a joke. GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

They never seem to give good expectations going forward looking at the last two half year and also the last two full year results.I dont expect that much drop in profitability, they are selling more tea albeit at slightly reduced prices, the weaker shilling also renders support though that could be offset by imported inputs.Even if EPS dropped by 100%,we will be talking 32 shillings earnings from operations!.If only they can explain the low dividend.

Like @cnn said... I have NEVER seen them say anything positive... It is like they want to think the company is going to collapse... I have the past 3 years of results & they ALWAYS bitch about labour, fuel & inputs... Whether they make 5/-, 10/- or 96/-... they 'lower' expectations... OK, fine BUT pay me a effing dividend that matches earnings/cashflow... @cnn - Erm, a 100% drop = ZERO EPS... u mean 50% drop... Greedy when others are fearful.
