Security analysis and intelligent investor are the best books but ive also been using "mastering fundamental analysis" by Thomset michael, "value investing" charles Mizrahi and for the technical analyst like qw, " a beginners guide to short term investing" by Toni Turner.

Guyz beforte you rip your heads off about KCB look at it this way.KCB has the possibilty of making 9B PBT or more this year. after tax that'll be 6.3B and an EPS of 2 bob. Giving a conservative P/E of 15 - that makes it 30bob/share. (Equity and HF p/e are at 20). all you have to invest in also is just time. Ladies r more patient than men, they tend to make more returns in the long-run. Half year resukts are cming up soon to give better direction. Also, keep in mind the +ve effects of the double tax treaties for the EAC on the profits of KCB and Scan and other co.s with regional operations. smile Think business (good or bad) always as U invest.
KCB is just staring at us. investors tend to forget that the company behind the stock is a going concern - the rights is just an event!!. be objective.(not for technical analysts, smile
Don't let the past blind your future. BUY - KCB, KCB, KCB

As for Access Kenya.Access is washed up swimming with the sharks i.e safcom, orange. damn tuna fish will be consumed.

CAVEAT EMPTOR.

15x PE is expensive.. Just coz Equity is 20x (BTW, did u factor in growth for 2010?) does not mean u shud buy something at 15x PE (or bank on it)

IMHO... u shud look for 10x PE

@Gems I think we are losing alot by the slowness of D&B. I once asked them to purchase for 10K safaricom at 2.70 and they delayed so much that by the time they did it the price was 3.50, by that they cost me 8000. I am looking for a new broker who will do my orders fast.
I think for us in the diaspora...Speed is really important! Any idea which broker is really fast in order execution?

@mBiaLoss and anybody tired of D&B .Try Faida securities or Suntra. The two firms even give you monthly portfolio recommendations !!!!!!!!!!!This big brokerage firms donot have time for "little " money.its clearly evident in their attitude.Try the small brokerage firms that will have time to attend to you.I have never and i have never taken the advice of their stock brokers or any other broker for that matter. Those over the counter brokers are just not worth their salt. The key here is to do your own research and then tell the broker to carry out your otder. And please it woudnt hurt to follow up your order NOT by EMAIL - as they tend to be ignored - just make a simple phone call.
