Interesting trading book +209%...huge bet which could go wrong if yields start rising...but they can always manipulate auctions...run rate should pick up in 2019...

This is way better and hope ABSA Kenya will re-think its customers to be fully inclusive with the death of colonial parents.
I can see in future a merge with HSBC as China grows in Africa.

I guess you are talking about an acquisition of ABSA by HSBC.
Barclays might make a comeback when they see prospects have improved.Barclays PLC still own a 15% stake in ABSA africa

Stupid reporting. How can "USD 20 million" be "about Ksh. 17 Billion"? Unbelievable!

Heads should roll here. We can't have such amounts of fake currency getting into circulation.

Debt recovery woes...and people still wonder why banks are sidestepping the SME sector in the current rate cap regime.

Today I had to visit several banks to carry out some transactions

1) Coop bank at Tmall - virtually empty. No time spent in a queue
2)National Bank kenyatta avenue-similarly no queue at all
3)CBA near city Hall - same story. Zero time on the queue
4)Barclays Queens way - all seats taken up and its quite a big banking hall. Spent quite some time in the queue

Was left wondering. Does it mean BBK is still a popular bank?

I had this notion that people deserted banks like BBK.

Or is it just the branch location?
