Though I'm already in big time with safcom(my average price is 5.9!).Kenol I have a small holding but still increasing (My ceiling price is 10.00) I'm thinking of Total.

How did your average buying price remain that high and Safaricom was at one time trading at 3 bob?

Talk of lessons learnt the hard way.
My broker bought for me a handsome amount of shares with the refund money- At 7 shillings and 6 shillings! I managed to buy at 3.5 also a good amount but very little when it his 2.8( I didn't have cash- I never invest in shares with borrowed money)

Pals,
No one seems to have put Kenya Re on the radar. It has been attracting huge buyers lately, looks foreigners jumping.

Boardroom noise notwithstanding, the stock is poised to make some gains. at least 30% short term, and higher in the medium term.

Low p/e - good prospects.

It is trading ex-dividends, yet higher than cum. I jumped in at 12 bob before books closure..

I would no want to get in a the peak.

in my opinion this stock is looking more and more fully priced with every day it rises.... my advice if you are dying for co-op is to get in during a price dip when interest fades....

but guys are right NIC is looking like a much better play in the financials

Absolutely correct, but is currently undervalued. It should be trading at a pe of 9 not less than 6!
I am not sure you will get it at less than 15 if you have to wait till release of half year results

The EPS probably includes some non-recurring gains thus the need to 'normalize' the EPS...

I dont care for KenRe so not bothered doing the calculations!

Not so pe is just one of them.
They will benefit from the current restucturing in the insurance sector. They are also opening a branch in the Western African region. This has been pending for a while.

Ok. obviously..our market is small..thus why they lump insurance firms together with banks and investment firms.. so, definatley cannot compare Keny re to jubilee n pan africa only..why then Kenya Re n not a bank for example..

just how low is Low p/e good befor it becomes bad consideration?

@ProverB
I think when a stock trades at a low pe for three consecutive years, it shows the market has no faith in it. p/e of 5 sounds ridiculously too low for any stock.

@VVS - I give up on the fight for Kenya Re. It has no followers on Wazua except I.

No... but for some reason I am not even interested...

I turned it off when a Board cant fire the MD for sub-par performance... then how does a shareholder fire the Board or MD?

Heck, she was not even fired but the contract was not renewed!

I will stick to Jubilee...

their Balance sheet seems ok...I am betting there will be a change in management soon...and the company will have a new lease of life and so will the stock...a buy for me.
The utimate goal of investing is to buy low sell high;if we re-write this core equation in psychology terms it becomes buy fear sell greed.
