CIC Insurance did really well during last year. This positive outcome increased investors optimism which was reflected in share price. I am really thinking that they will continue with positive results also during this year

At a PE of 22, the price is too high. Nice company, but too expensive to consider. Would you buy an asset to get your money back in 22 years??? Too expensive stock!! A successful man is not he who gets the best, it is he who makes the best from what he gets.

Oh, I'm amazed Total Insurance is still a leader in the UK... This company has very favorable conditions for customers, but as we know, what is profitable for customers is unprofitable for the company, so I have a reasonable question - how does this company manage to develop and not lose a lot of money? For example, I bought insurance for taxi drivers from their site http://www.total-insurance.co.uk on very favorable terms for me, for example, I pay only 1099 for my Toyota Prius, and every year the price of insurance will only decrease, not increase like in other companies...

https://www.businessdailyafrica.com/news/Insurance-penetration-drops-to-15-year-low/539546-5261220-2vbmef/index.htmlThe latest industry report by AKI shows that last year’s drop in insurance penetration was accompanied by a 61.56 percent drop in net profits from Sh9.21 billion to Sh3.54 billion, the lowest in 12 years. According to the latest industry data, return on capital dropped from 10.4 percent in 2017 to 4.41 percent last year, showing the shrinking returns for the industry. CIC Insurance Group will next week pay back investors of its five-year Sh5 billion bond, their principal dues, making the underwriter the latest corporate bond issuer to retire its debt without going back to the capital markets for a rollover. CIC issued the bond in October, 2014, with a coupon of 13 percent, meaning its redemption on October 2 will save the firm Sh650 million in annual interest expenses. https://www.businessdail...87388-7kk62kz/index.htmlWealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I like the trend of deleveraging by some firms. Centum is paying off some loans/bonds from the sale of Almasi/King/NBL. CIC is paying off this bond. HF will pay off a bond too. It is also trying to sell non-performing properties/assets. Britam is also trying to sell properties and reduce borrowings or increase cash. In these tough times, if the business cannot generate great returns then it is better to deleverage. Excessive leverage can be disastrous as seen for Uchumi, ARM, Mumias, etc. Cash-rich firms (or those with low/manageable) debt can better survive a tough operating environment. Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
