Back around 2002-2010, OO was very active online on boards like rcbowen and mashada. His so called "Digital Essays" were a source of praise and derision. But ultimately the man deserves respect.
He was one of the UoN students arrested on flimsy grounds after the 1982 coup attempt. He was jailed at Kamiti for around 4 years without any formal charges. He later fled to Tanzania where he teamed up with the Mwakenya group to agitate for multi partyism. Mwakenya was dismissed by the public, the media and the govt as a seditious group.
You have the right to vote for any party and any candidate today. For that you can think people like OO who put their neck on the line. Its easy to take things for granted now. Back then even getting an MP of your choice was a tall order as Moi selected his own people for MP
