I agree with Popat.
There are 2 main issues with this device.

Number 1 Rape is not a planned event. Do your wear it 365 days. How much does it cost etc etc! That is the biggest flaw of this device.

Number 2 This is Kenya with a HIV prevalence of 6-7 depending on your source. That said this device will increase the risk of HIV by exposing the woman, who is already more vulnerable to exposure of hiv compared the man, to blood which is worse than semen in viral load. This device might also escalate the violence involved and increase the trauma and exposure to more virus.

This device can not work in Kenya mainly due to cost implications in my opinion.

@Djinn the fact that people know about it is a good deterrent for would be rapist. So announcing it is great and should be encouraged.

To those saying it wont work because the rapist will come with a cucumber or will stick his finger etc. Well for those kind of rapist the only thing that can stop them is being arrested by police, thrown in jail and being made someone's bitch in Kamiti. Most rapist are opportunistic bullies who will prey on women if they think they are weak and they can quickly and easily get away with it. This condom will protect against those one and I think they are the majority.

Just wondering, how is it an anti-rape condom? The penis has to be inside first for the device to activate which means the device works after rape and not before. Secondly how does it work exactly, is it like a mouse trap or is it like the ECK ink (gv) which is supposed to take time to wear out?

On the other hand if I was the madam inventor, I would come up something which will forcefully inject super glue origi into the urethra of the rapist,the way BP used the so called Top-Kill method to try stop the oil leakage in Mexico gulf.

Nice invention.If I was a South African woman I'd wear it daily(but I imagine the discomfort).As for fears of provoking the rapist to the point of murder, arent these brutes killing their victims, even minors, currently?But pray,why did they have to go for a name like munchina?it sounds like the name of a snack.I pity parents who will have to explain why they cant buy the munchy munchina for them

Actual rape has very little to do with the sex act itself - rather its aim is to establish the rapist's power over the victim, need to dehumanise someone, cause fear, rapist was sexually molested in the past, heavy drinking/drugs,etc

Ergo,the device will brings little, if any, arsenal to the trenches of the anti-rape war. For isn't the history of mankind replete with such devices? Haven't there been anti-rape devies fitted with skunk stench? Pepper-filled aerosol cans in the West? Do you know of women who will want to DAILY carry funny devices in their nether regions, just on the off-chance that she will get raped? If in her menses, will the tampoon and muncha be both accomodated?

It has a very low life expectancy as a permanent tool. Because it addresses a psychological symptom with a mechanical device rather the cause of the rape itself.

The history of anti-rape devices is long (in Biblical times one was forced to marry his victim), and if we are still discussing them till today means they have not been effective.
The best weapon would be to get into the mind of a rapist and understand what motivates him/her to rape.
BTW, do rapes have a socio-economic angle -why are rape incidences higher is mukuru than in Lavi, for instance? Does economic disempowerment lead to higher rape incidents? Or is it that poor men have lower chances of marriage and they rape to validate their masculinity? Owesjua.

it is not to some extent an anti-rape device, rather a device to
discourage repeat rape attacks by the same rapist,
- ignores minors,
- ignores women who rape men.

And yes, it maybe misused or abused with tragic results on the male member.

BTW, a tight jeans would do the trick.
I should know, because a gal pal of mine resisted such an attempt near Bunyala Rd barely 2 yrs ago as it was taking the rapists a tad too long to undress her and the ensuing struggle attracted attention.
