Do I need approvals for this?

I have a very remote kaploti in the bush that I'm thinking of building a romantic cabin retreat like below.



1. Do I really need county approvals for this given this is a semi-permanent structure? My guess is no. I plan to have a raised rough stone joined with cement foundation and then let the wood floor sit on it.
2. Who are the best people to go for to get treated timber? Or can I just use the kienyeji methods (used car oil) to keep the termites at bay
3. Can anybody give a rough estimate of what it would cost in terms of materials (finishings kando) for a 12m by 6m cabin? Treated wood, basic mabati roof, internal wood walls etc

This one is beautiful but may take a long time and very skilled fundis to build.

County authorities require that you get approvals for 'anything structure', even cattle boma (in DC), chicken house or kernel. That is the law.
However, we all know county approvals adds no value to the structure, planning or anything except that it significantly increase cost of project.

I go for approvals to safeguard from regular harassment by kanjo during building phase.
I cannot even think twice about approval if am sure kanjo are unlikely to visit my project due to its location.

Are you saying even a mud Hut needs approvals?
According to my understanding, temporary and semi permanent structures on freehold land do not need approvals. Nitajenga tu. In fact the plot is so remote no county or NCA guy has the time to waste coming all the way hapo to inspect anything

@ josiah33-in Kenya all permanent buildings are required to pass trough an approval as stated in the Local Government Act. Exceptions are semi-permanent and Govt. Buildings.The local authority have the right to demolish or remedy any un-approved building within their jurisdiction.
@ jaggernaut-a Simba is not permanent so you dont require an approval.
@Realtreaty-architectural firms are many-just do a google search and you will see many of them who can advice you on the most appropriate building for any particular area.
