As a potential investor you should be looking at the company's books and not village gossip about the ceo.

If you knew anything about investment, you would know that the character of the CEO is very important!!!

What do you think a fellow who can shaft family would do to you? There is even talk of murder of a family member!!! And these are not village rumours. There are is even a case in court!!! Fellow looks very shady!!

Waah! Keeping off.
Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray

I invest for the long-term so a single "bad" year is OK as long as the other years are better.
I have KK, Unga & ARM that might come through in 2019. No guarantees.
I *hope* Seaboard makes another attempt at a higher price in 2019-20 after we see another full year of results.
I *hope* ARM gets sorted out one way or another. I have already NPA'd it but I want to write if off ASAP once any recoveries, if any, are made..

Reminds me of another shady character called Fai Amario who was making wine at Naivasha..I read somewhere that he hammered a nail into an employees skull after accusing him of theft..When he was looking for a wife he advertised in the papers and one of the requirements was for the woman to be a graduate and a passport holder..

Yeah. Took the two employees to Nyeri for a "work related trip". It turned out to be an interrogation about lost money. The employees didn't say what he wanted to hear. He drove nails into their heads!!!

Wife also disappeared. When he was questioned he said he doesn't know where she went and said if anyone sees her, she should be told NOTTINGHAM to come back. Story died like that. Years later, Flying Squad got wind of his involvement in a car theft/jacking ring. They dug up his compound looking for parts. They found his wife's remains!!! Turns out he killed and buried her. Dude was Mafia like. There were stories that once he employs you, you don't quit. Wait to be fired or reported missing!

Dude was big time on the second generation alcohol. At one point (after Kuguru foods sales on alcoholic drinks took a dive) approximately 90% of second generation alcohol consumed in Kenya was from his Breweries. He could have easily sold shares to wazuans/Kenyans and shafted them proper!!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Your approach is good. You have succeeded in getting undervalued stocks in your portfolio. The disadvantage is that wenye pesa mingi wanakuja wanakunyanganya e.g seaboard and Rubis.

@vituvingisana loves takeovers. I don't know why. I personally don't want us to lose all our gems to foreigners but I guess @vvs says business is business. We are in it for the money and if someone is making a good offer, we take it and leave.

Imagine being one of those people with "shares to hold for a life time" and some fellows come with a briefcase, make an offer, get more than 90% and buy you out by force!!! And this is worse when it happens in a bear. The "premium" offered in the takeover is no premium at all!!! And smart money is like vultures!! They start flying around in bear markets. Imagine being pushed out in a bear at a "premium".

Refuse to sell. I think the buyer needs 90% to force you to sell at their price. Look at Unga where 30% refused to offer their shares at 40.

My fren, buy something else with the cash like folks did with Access and Rea. The buyer needs 90% so kaa ngumu like the owners of 30% of Unga.
