After Atlas, NBV, and Deacons, Wanjiku is wiser.
New listings are welcomed. However, they will be thoroughly scrutinized.

I recall Nakumatt also wanted to list before all these debacles started. Imagine what would have been had investors got trapped inside.

Of note is that the cash-cows (Sportpesa) have refused to list. Laughing out loudly

Let Kimani Rugendo open the Afia books and have the numbers speak for themselves.

He is not a billionaire. This is a pseudo billionaire.Afia juices giving Coca-Cola competition is a creation of the media who write whatever one wants after being bought lunch and receiving a handout of Kshs 5,000.

I would like to play the devils advocate.

This is half knowledge. He hired a firm to be the security guys. Under their keen eye, they lost 16-20m of items. He refused to pay them for services not rendered. They took him to court for a 2.5M Bob wind down 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️

Tell me here who doesn’t know someone who doesn’t drink Afia/PnP?

As a potential investor you should be looking at the company's books and not village gossip about the ceo.

Obviously the books by such a character are "good" for the purposes of prospectus and IPO..After IPO is when you realize the true books

All info needs to be verified as much as possible but the character of the CEO is also important eg after my experience with matu of olympia, I would think long and hard before I touch anything he was involved in.

I have no idea about Rugendo but some other shady characters in whom I have little trust:
Carl Esprey (Atlas) - I thought they were the real deal
Ciano (Uchumi)
Segman (KK) - I used to like him but then...

Whereas it is not fair to say Rugendo is not legit without knowing more, the recent spate of failed/poor GEMS listing (among others) leads me to be cautious.

Price - We want to buy into a firm that provides us with a fair return. If the shares are "expensive" using whatever valuation we are comfy with then why invest?
Today, we can buy KK at 9x PER, Safcom at 15x PER, Banks at 6-9x PER and 0.6-1.5x BV, etc.
Some eg Saf are still growing in double digits. Even Equity is doing double digits.

Can Rugendo offer us better value?

Can he give me 15% p.a.?

If you knew anything about investment, you would know that the character of the CEO is very important!!!

What do you think a fellow who can shaft family would do to you? There is even talk of murder of a family member!!! And these are not village rumours. There are is even a case in court!!! Fellow looks very shady!!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Is that your target minimum return mark? this year i got 4% return. This is from dividends.Im targeting more than 10% next year but i will try to pursue capital gains also.I feel i have learnt enough in wazua to pursue that aspect too but with long term approach.

I invest for the long-term so a single "bad" year is OK as long as the other years are better.
I have KK, Unga & ARM that might come through in 2019. No guarantees.
I *hope* Seaboard makes another attempt at a higher price in 2019-20 after we see another full year of results.
I *hope* ARM gets sorted out one way or another. I have NPA'd it but I want to write if off ASAP.
