When I said there is no stopping the ascent of Kenya's sprawling middle class I almost got stoned. There is a reason why hundreds of thousands of people are building maisonettes in the suburbs of Nairobi like dustbowl and starting successful tourist camps in remote places like Lake Turkana. Kenya's middle class has been expanding at break neck speed since 2002. This is a no brainer; economies that boom have a large, well educated middle class that powers domestic demand. This domestic demand is what turns small companies into medium sized enterprises domestically. Then once they reach critical mass they go global.
