CapitalFM now reports:

Safaricom reviews data usage policy http://goo.gl/fb/9sOI9

Tafadhali fafanua - Does it now mean I can recover my bundles after expiry or not? Eissh, the language in the statement is hard to decipher.

I think you have to topup before expiry, then the bundles will roll over.

“Following an internal review and in an effort to continuously enhance customer experience, we have made some changes to the policy. In that regard, Data Bundles between seven days and 90 days validity are rolled over when a subscriber tops up before the expiry of the bundle,” Safaricom explained in a statement.

I am glad we made noise

I think they just answered Kenmacs prayer.

But knowing safcom? I think it will have some conditions attached; say for instance, they may demand a minimum bundle limit balance before the balance can be rolled over.
I am nt sure they want slow users.

Now am thinking,
suppose u keep rolling it over such that it results in customers using balances over long periods of time??
What happens if people purchase few new bundles to top up rolled over balances?
I thought an ISP is happy with fast internet users but won't this 'rolling over'slow down purchases?

I don't think safcom are that stupid either.
They have (by the announcement) suceeded in pushing it's 'slow' customers to purchasing few but expensive bundles (which we all hate to buy)to top up the balances and the resulting effect?
It's going to more expensive for the customer but profitable to them because their market for few but exp.bundles will go up.

Who goes to the bank smiling in the end?

just bought 1.5gb today (22/07/2012) and shows expiry as 30/08/2012. That's about 38 days. The noise was helpful..

Quote:
If the bundle expires, you will not be able to access or reactivate any data balance unless you activate another bundle before your old bundle expires. Any bundle that you activate before your old bundle expires will give you the opportunity to be able to use both the old balance and the newly activated bundle for the validity period of the newly activated bundle

kwani u freeze ur bundles in the freezer?
You know why am suprised? I have never paid attention to the expiry date cz 1.5gb lasts me a week or plus few days. I top up before they get exhausted not before expiry, since I will never come close to expiry date.

I agree! I used to go through 3GB so easily every month on Safcon, now I tried to use airtel data and barely finish 2GB a month.
