Baby mice have been made with two mums and no dad, say researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

It took a substantial feat of genetic engineering to break the rules of reproduction.

The scientists said the "bimaternal" (two mammas) animals were healthy and went on to have pups of their own.

But there was bad news on the all-male front. Mice with double-dads were attempted, but died within days of being born.

Why even try?

The researchers were trying to answer fundamental questions about why we have sex.

Mammals, including us, can make babies only through sexual reproduction - aka you need an egg from mum and a sperm from dad.

But the rest of the natural world doesn't play by the same rules; some female fish, reptiles, amphibians and birds can go it alone.

Welcome to the bizarre world of virgin births known officially as parthenogenesis.

As someone said, this world is a petri dish

Traditionally, God has been a God of science, and humans, being of His breath are like God.

But that humans will stop needing each other then implies a post human world. In this case I'd say 'sub-optimal post human world'. Probability of it happening is quite slim.

We can imagine that the beings in such a scenario would depend on each other in a different way from now. And by 'different from now' I mean, now we depend on each other for being, and sustaining this being.

If we depended on each other for something other than being, what would we depend on each other for?

What if the universe is a network of beings in a singularity? If it is, then we'd have a backlash from the universe itself!

The beauty about science and these technologies is that they serve to remind us of who we are.

Not true. The day women stop needing men is the day men stop needing women and that is naturally impossible.

True women and men are not only attracted to each other for reproduction, there is companionship,, warmth, cuddling, sill talk, biting, arguing fighting etc we need each other with men needing women a little bit more.

Women can do fine without men in as much as companionship is concerned. Men too
