The Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission has been investigating circumstances under which two companies owned by one businessman was paid Sh1.2 billion by three different ministries over a period of eight months.

EACC says it has uncovered large and unexplained cash transfers from the State departments of Interior, Youth Affairs as well as Planning and Statistics.

Most of the money was paid in 2016/17 Financial Year when the country was gearing up for the last General Election.

The money was wired into the accounts of Era Two Thousand Enterprises.

Sometimes money was transferred into the account up to five times on a single day.

Era Two Thousand Enterprises was registered in 1998 as a printing and stationery business.

Barely three months ago, Lugari MP Ayub Savula said corruption suspects should be publicly executed.

Today, his words have come back to haunt him.

The MP is currently in police custody in connection to the loss of Sh2.5 billion at the Government Advertising Agency (GAA).

He together with his two wives allegedly received more than Sh122 million meant for the payment of advertising to media houses.

Three people, working for a 'daring private developer', were on Friday arrested for fencing off Eldoret State lodge.

Sources told the Star that a security team, which toured the State lodge land, was surprised to find beacons erected within the protected area.

"Those involved must be very daring or well-connected because they have the guts to move in and fence off land in a protected area," a former police boss said.
