Safcom has little to worry about from the merger for the near future.
The confusion that reigns within a merger of this sort isn't good for customers or (disgruntled) employees.

How will Equitel be affected?

On a side note, my purchase cost of the Faiba modem has been offset by buying (cheaper) data bundles vs Airtel and Safcom. I still use Safcom when and where necessary but my usage on Safcom has significantly reduced within Nairobi and Mombasa.

Outside the towns you have mentioned safaricom is strong

Telkom Kenya says proceeds from the sale of the towers will be used to strengthen the balance sheet and expand the 3G and 4G network.

Digression that might interest some...

To achieve this goal, the company will try and raise up to USD 1.5 billion by listing a quarter of the equity in its African unit. It hopes to list the assets by the start of next year, either in London or South Africa.

In the process of enhancing the reliability, capacity, speeds and reach of its network, Telkom Kenya has announced the expansion of its 4G-covered zones within Nairobi and its surroundings.

In particular, the following areas will soon benefit from the telco’s LTE services: Athi River, Syokimau, Kitengela, Thika, Kiambu Town, Kikuyu Town, Kiserian and Ngong.

It all started from Nairofi and Mombatha, the rest is waiting for the mass to catch up with the momentum. Pivotal market it is.
Alternatively,
Whatever sells in these two towns will definitely sell elsewhere in Kenya given that condition persists in Nairobi sufficiently long enough. Kapult.

War for the Internet market share in Kenya between Safaricom, Airtel and Telkom Kenya seems not to be ending soon as Telcom has hit the market with a new 5GB bundle worth Ksh 39.

The 5GB bundle dubbed ‘Night Owl Bundle’ is available between 12am and 6am daily and you can purchase it more than once.

Airtel will slide to number 3.
Hellios will have to wait longer to recoup their investment
