Can anyone in the know advice on this subject.I have recently got a contact to purchase uk ex-military drilling rigs for drilling boreholes and water-wells.Now comes the problem, according to KRA i can not bring them into kenya cos they are mounted on OLD trucks which will need registration. The 8yr rule kicks in. To my understanding i thought as long as they were classed as heavy plant machinery the rule did not apply. The trucks are of higher quality than the ones that come from china and india and taking into account the previous owners maintained to a high standard.could they be imported into kenya as special purpose vehicles? and what are the exeptions?.Am also looking for contacts in Tanzania,Ug and Rwanda who might be interested in purchasing the drilling rigs, tippers,or cargo trucks @ very reasonable prices. This are the uk ex-military 4x4 trucks.Hope someone shines the light on this matter as this vehicles am sure are need in our dear country to help sort the water problems in our country by having more boreholes dug at a reasonable price.

ati better quality than the trucks from China and India...
exceptional fallacy... have you ever seen any of the China or India trucks stalled on the road...
Now yesterday i was on a construction site and the excavation subcontractor has his trucks all mixed up.. some tata.. isuzu and mercedes...
the tata did not appear to have any problem getting out of the excavation loaded... it was a different story for the other two...
seperate the issue...
drills or trucks
do you want drills or trucks...
that way you are either on your way to tax haven bliss or yelling at your clearing at forwarding agent because he is only used to importing small japanese cars

when in form 1, we selected the technical subjects we were to undertake and hence we were reshuffled.. my school had four streams... and i was moved from 1 North to 1 South...

on arrival at 1 South i told the guys... who had been in the class for two weeks that i like sitting at the window and would somebody not mind moving over so that i get my window seat..

so one guy told me... 'there is a lot of window space remaining... just that it is on the other side of the window (outside)..."
so you may like your drills truck-mounted... but...

Give the brother a break, the borehole guys move quite a lot and a handy vehicle makes a lot of sense and especially when the drilling machine he has eyes on is already mounted and at a reasonable cost.

@FAAA can get a percussion cable drilling rig with all the tools need for the job..the rigs is built on two wheels which allow you to pull it behind a pickup or similar 4*4.Also need to know depths you are planning to drill to, as percussion or as known here (shell&auger)tend to have max depths of about 145ft due to the winch used.If you are still interested email me at muchenej@yahoo.co.uk and will send photos and specs for the said rig

@Fantony its a matter of opinion..I prefer this ex-uk bedford trucks as they go on and on and never fail one... even in todays war zone they are still using this trucks in iraq and afgan.....

@ Wazo depends on depth you want rig to dig... on a guide price rigs start at about Kshs 2.1M
and just noted I made a mistake on previous post have a rig coming to kenya that can do upto 140M not 145ft..will be posting photo of the rig soon. If you need one contact me through email will send specs.

hi wazuans, have a drilling rig coming to Kenya soon.for sale or hire to dig boreholes at reasonable prices. attached photo of rig after modification to make it easier to ship thus reducing shipping cost.price to buy start at 2.1m,still working the price to drill as i intend to be the cheapest driller around. This particular drill can be used for other jobs for example we have just finished digging holes for a foundation in clay which needed pilling as part of making the foundation stable in this kind of soil..can see it used in the more troublesome black cotton of kenya and will gurantee it would be cheaper using the rig.any queries please send an email.opps.... cant attach the photo but can send to anyones email on request.
