Safaricom needs to go back to the drawing board. Mpesa growth will be slowed down by the tax increase. They have been resisting calls to lower their data bundles charges. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

With the upcoming 15% taxes on internet services, their holding back on lower data bundles gives them a stronger position to incorporate that cost while lower bundle prices.

Their mobile money business is insignificant Overally we'll suffer apart from mpigs Mobile money is very significant for Safaricom as it is a value chain driving the data purchase decision as well as voice airtime buys.. Banks creeping into the space leaves it wide open for dual sim holders as they simply select via direct transfer from bank account to preferred mobile wallet for data/airtime HF 90,000 ABP 3.83; KQ 414,100 ABP 7.92; MTN 23,800 ABP 6.45

https://citizentv.co.ke/...cks-appointment-213307/
Safaricom has reappointed Sylvia Mulinge as a director in charge of Special Projects. Ms. Mulinge had exited the company to take up new assignment as Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Tanzania. Her appointment in Dar es Salaam scheduled to take effect on June 1st 2018. However this became a cropper after the neighbouring country’s authorities delayed in issuing her with a work permit. In an email to staff seen by Citizen Digital, CEO Bob Collymore said Mulinge’s appointment will take effect from 1st October 2018. “In this role, she will report directly to me and will be responsible or spearheading our commercial revival and help us deliver our strategy,’’ reads a section of the communication to staff. Ms. Mulinge will also be required in the short term to work with commercial teams to “restore customer trust and loyalty.” Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle
