C/p
To understand what just happened, Eliud Kipchoge has run an equivalent of 105 laps on an athletics track at an average speed of below 70 seconds per lap. To understand the insanity try run just ONE lap.

BBI will solve it

3 things. Your body is built for running and then you train like this in Kaptagat.

That place is so high and air so thin. You will find yourself panting just by walking.

And then proper technique. This guy does not waste energy:

15 years ago nobody even knew his name. Listen to the commentators on this video. Until the final lap they do not even acknowledge that he exists because Bekele and ElGerouj were the big names at the time.

His reputation among fellow athletes is that he is the hardest working athlete any of them have ever trained with. Despite being the most successful in his camp he still does the duties of fetching water and cleaning the toilets just like everybody else.

In the Berlin Marathon, the first male and female runners are given cash rewards of about 50,000 US dollars each (Ksh. 5 million).

An additional prize of around 69,000 USD (Ksh.7 million) is also up for grabs to the champion who sets the world’s best time.
He will be injecting 119,000 USD into the Iten economy. Not bad for a 33 year old

Transition from track to road could be the key a decade ago haile geb was being described as GOAT after running 2.04 then breaking the record again in 08 this time running a staggering 2.03.Kipchoge and geb profiles are similar others include bekele and dibaba though they have been inconsistent.Vivian cheruiyot is another one to watch out

The prize money here is just a token. The real money is not in Berlin, it is in other places. A few examples, World Marathon majors. I think he is a contender to win this for the second or third time now. That one is $500,000 the last time I checked. He is now Olympic Champion, World record Holder and winner of 10 out of 11 marathons he has ran. This kind of pedigree attracts a hefty appearance fee. Any marathon that just wants him to appear even to just say habari will part with at least $100,000 or more. His deal with Nike just got even more lucrative. He can negotiate with Nike for a retainer of a few million dollars per year just to wear the shoes and jersey.
