Good news for shareholders. GOK should sell more of their stake to institutional investors to unlock the value of the counter.

With 13% they deserve a board sit and hopefully they will get someone professional.

So long as it's not a South African. They are yet to fully appreciate the Kenyan market.

Now,the next question would be whether NSSF pulls these sort of moves?

PIC is the investment arm of GEPF(Goverment Employee Pension Fund) so not quite like NSSF

NO. KE's NSSF is a cash cow for Uhuru, Mashamba,Atwoli, their rela-thieves and cronies. In Tanzania and Uganda, the NSSF announces publicly the interest earned by workers deposits on a yearly basis.Infact, that announcement is anticipated by workers, the way we anticipate KCSE results here in KE. Hapa Kenya most contributors don't know what percentage of interest their contributions earned last year leave alone years gone by.

In other news, another Uhuru-mashamba cashcow KPC is set to bleed 4.4 billions. Management led by one Mr. Sang says that it can confortably pay such a "small" amount based on 9.4 billion profit made last year. John Ngumi has resisted this outright plunder and the management has written to someone above for intervention. Mnataka tufanye nini jameni? d'oh! d'oh!

"Treasury estimates of expected investment income from State corporations, government agencies and other organisations published on April 26 show that the telco was projected to contribute Sh15 billion in dividends in the next fiscal year.

KCB and KenGen are expected to contribute Sh2 billion and Sh1 billion respectively in dividends to the exchequer, the document shows.
The projected Sh1 billion income from KenGen suggests that the Treasury expects the power generator to return to paying dividends in the year ending this June, having held shareholders to a two-year dividend drought.

The government is the majority shareholder in KenGen with a stake of 70 per cent, equivalent to 4.62 billion shares, meaning that for the Treasury to achieve the Sh1 billion dividend target the company would need to pay out at least 21 cents per share to shareholders."

Mr Keter said hydro and geothermal power now account for about 90 per cent of the power being fed into the grid, from 69.34 per cent in February.

Power producer KenGen has started discharging water from Masinga Dam into River Tana after the reservoir filled up.

Water in the dam has risen to 1,056.68 metres against a maximum level of 1,056.50 metres.

KenGen is discharging 70 cubic metres per second

If this dam had been constructed the water being spilled over would have been dammed to provide cheap power

The dam is full so is overflowing (via spillway)...just thinking it is wrong to say they are discharging as they really can't keep the water as it is full. Discharging would mean they have control which they don't.

Also, instead of letting it spill away, i presume they are generating 100% because the spillway is 'waste'

Masinga is the SMALLEST generator in the 7-Forks system. Only 40MW - two units of 20MW each. Puny little things!

Normal max flow rate is about 100,000L per second. Now spilling an additional 70,000L per second via spillway.

Given the current scenario and probably with a simulation of the remaining part of this year, and considering the past as a known fact, how well could we project the endings

There will be no major change in the FY earnings vis a vis last year.
Only major change will maybe issuance of a 20-22 cents dividend in the full year earnings

In a statement to local news, KenGen Managing Director Rebecca Miano said that the 168 MW Olkaria V geothermal power project is on track and construction is 40% complete. She gave that update as part of KenGen’s G2G Innovation seminar that brings together 500 KenGen employees and local and international stakeholders to deliberate and discuss innovative ideas. According to KenGen, it is through these seminars that the concept of geothermal spa was conceived. Other concepts that were hatched include the establishment of KenGen Industrial Park, whose development is at advanced stages.

The Sh40 billion (USD 400 million) Olkaria V project is expected to be commissioned by July 1, 2019 producing 168 MW. She said this is part KenGen’s ambitious green energy project aimed at delivering an additional 720 MW to the current 1,631 MW of renewable energy by 2020.

One of the worst performing counters this year.
It's down 28.6% since January.

But why though? Don't get me wrong I am happy with the price decline as I plan on gorging myself soon but what's the reason for the fall?
