Word is KCB was "forced" to make a bid since no one wanted Imperial.

There we go shooting in the dark again........IBL has good loan book. I guess this is what KCB is targeting >>> Weren't many of IBL's large loans to shady firms and insiders.

As it is KCB has deep pockets >>> That's irrelevant. Why pay for garbage?

@vvs always sees everything evil in what KCB does.
The good book will be taken by KCB while the bad one remains with KDIC

Investment shouldn’t be emotional @VVS

@ericsson has nothing better to do but look for conspiracies. Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Again, I ask... what does KCB see in IBL?
What's the size of the "good" book that IBL has?
Why spend time/resources trying to buy a tiny (clean) book vs their current portfolio?

Deep pockets doesn't mean one should waste money. Think like Warren Buffett who has skin in the game.
An example is how the useless board of Unga justified the purchase of Ennsvalley from the Ndegwas.
Another is KQ's board and managers who pushed hedging and Project Mawingu.

Arm twisting rather than due diligence.

Else DTB would have bought easily if the good book was worth the effort.

The bidder that dropped out was DTB

NBK or Chase bank could have been valuable.I dont really think if imperial bank will be valuable to kcb investors. The npls were too high. But i trust Oigara judgement.

Did you read the report which stated how much money is needed to recapitalise NBK?

I can understand why DTB bid for Imperial given the market segment DTB and Imperial were in BUT of what benefit is Imperial to KCB?

As for NBK, without the "favored son" concessions, what value does NBK bring to KCB?

DTB may bid for Dubai bank

Seems the KCB offer isn't really an offer. Governor asking for yet another extension.

Thought so.
