dude/dudette where have you been???. there has been a whole lot of news flow around this counter you would have to live on the moon not to have heard ANYTHING!!!!

i can pick three reasons from the top of my head.
1. MKESHO
2. The 4Billion SME loan from china
3. 40% increase in Q1 profits

@guru267

1. MKESHO......why is it not translating to the same share price movements for Safaricom?

2. SME China Loan......fluff like pretty much of Equity news

3. 40% Q1 profits.......not unlike other banks with the exception of Barclays...and why aren't the supposed profits translating into bigger dividends? Methinks they could be paper profits...

Equity needs to 'Show me the money' . I still need to be convinced.

Well, i think resisitance has somenthing to do with it. The market is hovering around 22-24 because nobody wants to bid higher or is prepared to. I think if someone makes the first move then the share price may move to new higher territory. About the dividends, maybe something to do with overheating due to phenominal growth? They need to keep some money with them, my guess.

Because Equity looks like the big winner from Mkesho.
SCOM share price was unmoved by 37% growth in profit, Mkesho in SCOM terms is a drop in the ocean.

BBI will solve it

@Mchuuzi, pesa nane, guru: Me thinks its a great share to hold for mid term speculation. Me topping up and holding for atleast 12 months. Its a resilient share atleast historically.

safcom has 10billion shares floating around... the impact of business announcements of safcom do not translate into share price movement for this reason..

any movement up always translates into huge supply of shares

@ guru - Not to worry. These shares will slowly but surely move from the hands of speculators/retail investors to serious investors who will not flood the market every time the price rises by 20cts. But it might be a long time before that happens. Then we'll see some stability. But this might even be delayed further by short term investors who buy at 5.15/= and sell at 5.55/= and repeat the cycle over and over - never mind they are working for the broker (brokers make more than them - 4.2% - for the complete cycle at zero risk!)
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

On the day after the annoucement safcom traded 150 million shares. It means you have to be having a substantial number of shares to be relevant (considering individual investors). As for institutiönal investors, theirs is long term and it is this that makes the difference.

Those who want a quick ride i think the up trend in rea vipingo has been confirmd after that sell off, that was triggerd by the profit warnin. I see this share testin the resistance level of 19. 00. You enter just 4 the ride. Otherwise as a long time investor this counter is a no no no no. So buy rea.

@qw what are you smoking? The stock is oversold yes, but the trend is not supported by volumes. It might fizzle out then come crashing down like a tonne of bricks. I would wait for the price to test the 19 resistance, then the current support before jumping in. On another note, does sisal have a future?

when this share goes up, NSE index goes up! when it goes down (today) NSE goes south. What is the reasoning behind this

@sparkly. LOL . i am sorber. but ar u trying to tell me Rea willnt test Ksh 19.00.Then i think simple analysis has faild you. And were u the one who said that u were waitin for equity at Ksh 30.00. and we shld meet there over a cup of tea. heheheh.

i do agree sisal has no future but if a pleasant ride shows up as a momentum trader i put aside fundermental analysis and rid the wave.

So lets meet at 19.00 for rea vipingo over a hot cup of tea.And with the low volumes on the NSE i am even suprised some share are movin up.

Let them read this budget fast we move on and Mr. Uhuru better not do another TYPO.

@freiks its the other way round. Stock moves with the nse. Its called Beta, an assignment for you, google. @qw lol you have misquoted me. For rea i would wait for the trend to be confirmed by a double bottom, inverted head and shoulders, or establish a channel.

@freiks Equity is a large cap stock and the index is definitely weighted so if equity, KQ, EABL, or safcom fall your likely to see a fall in the index
