Isn't it a little premature to make this conclusion?

Telkom Kenya in the process of disposing its towers units to a US firm...

It seems the Telkom Airtel merger is in full gear...

Or they are finding it hard to beat safaricom. This is sweet/enticing news to buy more safaricom shares at bargains

I wonder who is in charge of product development at Safaricom. Big box was an epic fail, now masoko is struggling. I also haven't seen anyone using the Mpesa tap device. Anyway, I suppose they are big enough to fail in some areas.

Failure = lessons learned. Expect them to come back stronger

In that case, the class has many lessons:

LindaJamii, SemaDoc, My1963, BigBox, 1-Tap, Blaze, LittleCab, FlexBundles, Masoko, Platinum, Songa and now Bonga!

Airtel will be the losers in the data wars.

With the Telkom-Airtel merger I guess the telco that will shed it's data market share is Safcom ...

But before that happens Telkom-Airtel need to refine their networks to match Safcom quality and consistency - in anticipation of some new subscribers from the competition ...

Just my two cents...

Until Airtel and Telkom can match Safcom's quality and coverage, I am not overly worried BUT since most Kenyans are dual SIM folks, I do see Safcom losing market share.

I have Saf (phone) for "critical" use but also use Faiba4G (modem) for normal surfing, limited to Nairobi and Mombasa, purely on a cost basis.
