Tusker Baridi's contribution makes me conclude that the 2007 elections of hate and the post-election violence was organised and that the people to deal with are not the ragtag gangs but men in suits with degrees who are now perched high up in government. Tusker baridi is no fool unless one says it is foolish to be so hateful.

Hi all,

our perception that going after the extortion gangs will solve our problems is totally misplaced.

We should go after the political manipulators. these are the people whom we have entrusted with the leadership of this country to take us to the next step of development, but instead are just busy milking us dry. We are all haemoraging from the wounds of their irresponsible and greedy actions.

So TB are you a real man? Coz I've seen you use that term in all your replies? What is it about kyuks being (or not being real men) that bothers you that much, ama it's just a term of provocation? No wonder you were run out of some topics a while back...

I think it will be foolhardy to ignore the mungiki..yet they exist at have the POTENTIAL to cause havoc...

I diasgree with some of you on the role of mungiki in the not too distant future and there capabilites..at the moment mungiki is percieved to be a kikuyu outfit and soon they will be a national outfit...i forsee people from other tribes being recruited as the country is getting incresingly tired with the Elitist, therefore targetting themselves as the enemy.. it's numbers will blow up beyond anybodies imagination and then we will have a real problem in our hands..before any of our leaders batt an eyelid, some bright scholar will come out of the woodwork and feel the vacuum of direction and intent ...now what will happen and most importantly what will they do?? your guess is as good as mine..

Money goes with power and they will soon realise that..and as well all know humans are all driven by greed...If at all a repeat of what happened last year occurs...i do not think this will be a war fought against tribes,it will be a war against our 'lesser' brothers and sisters..The Luo's will attack the Luhyas,Kikuyus attack the Kambas,Kales the Kisiis and so forth..that is what happens in warfare..Good case example is Somalia where it's the clans that fight each other..

It's important we maintain sober heads and only we can determine our destiny..I don't think Uncle Sam will do much, case example Rwanda,Somalia..we have no Oil like Iraq or minerals like DRC..and at this point i don't see the west sending troops to East Africa...that would be wishful thinking..!!

If you feel sufficiently angry to go to war then join the armed forces and go into Migingo.

I'm amazed at the militarization of Kenyans since Dec 2007 - the Kenyan psyche has been adequately prepared for war. If conflict erupts it will be long and dirty.

In any case what would be the benefit of going to war with UG - to restore some lost pride? Is it worth diverting our education and agriculture budget to fight a useless war? Aren't many Kenyans already living in poverty and disease? Is the reward for winning the war equal to the resources we would have to spend?

'A wise man ignores an insult.'

If you are truly hellbent on going to war - you should volunteer to join the attack squad, pay for the ammo and the guns and bear the costs of war yourself. Kenya has more pressing issues ahead of us.

Anyway to vent out the anger - someone should sue the British for starting this problem and seek compensation. We should all have been left with our ancient tribal boundaries.

hi all,

Ric dees is right. if these mungikis are earning ksh 500 per day,i believe jobless youths from other communities could easily be recruited into the movement for the easy pay, after all who would hate that. this is where the real danger is...So,Tusker Baridi and others who think that mungiki is a purely central issue, think again.

On different note i suppose the press is making a fuss out of the eldoret mass burial. the event was supposed to be purely voluntary for anyone. Why is it being politicised? This is reminding the affected people of the past tribulations which they are working hard to forget!!! The pigs should not have allowed to attend. They are a good receipe for disastor....
