If NASA wins, sell Centum the next day after results are announced.

Buying ICDC is a no brainer. The fundamentals are right, management is solid, sharp and connected, the company is super diversified, book value per share is still very low and projects in the pipeline are mind boggling. And thankfully we just munched a juicy dividend. Let's pray they boost those going forward instead of over-rewarding management with thick bonuses every year.

Can someone explain to to me how Centum declares/generates profits? It seems that the company's profits vary from year to year, and it doesn't seem to have a lot of cash at hand. From past company reports, all that is emphasized is NAV growth, which is cool, but doesn't really shed light on internal operations (for example, EAPC probably has a NAV that's higher than the current share price, but it isn't a really good company). There's also no guarantee that dividends will continue being issued to shareholders. It seems like a good company, but as Warren Buffet said, don't invest in things you don't understand.

The engine of the company that was organising lucrative deals is gone. Future prospects look gloomy. Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle

I will take a contrarian view. Centum is a "Tier 2" holding for me but an important one. 1) DJ remains very important as a rainmaker for Centum BUT Mworia is no slouch. With a huge AUM, folks take his call. He has been instrumental in Centum's growth in NAV over the past few years. 2) Not all deals will be profitable. Some may fail spectacularly BUT as long as the overall portfolio does well... 3) Mworia has skin in the game. I like that. 4) Vipingo will be a huge cashcow for years to come. It might not produce cash until after 2023 [elections are an issue] I am not a trader so I can wait a few years to enjoy the fruits... Greedy when others are fearful. Centum gains Sh1bn from Platinum sale https://www.businessdail...47862-jciov1/index.html
Cash that can be deployed to reduce debt and shore up Sidian. If interest rate caps are lifted then Sidian could become profitable as it targets the SMEs and personal loans. “The proceeds of the (Platinum Credit) sale will enable us to deploy capital in other investment opportunities in our pipeline across our various focus areas,” Mr Mworia said on Monday. More good news for Centum Sh22 billion Lamu coal power plant line takes shape https://www.businessdail...48832-8cfbyw/index.html
"The line is expected to evacuate 960 megawatts (MW) of electricity from the proposed 1,050MW coal-fired plant from Lamu to Nairobi through Kitui." "The 520-kilometre, 400-kilovolt (kV) line will cost an estimated $220 million (Sh22.28 billion) and take 36 months to complete" Now that GoK has committed to building the transmission line, Centum can find partners (likely to be Chinese) to fund and build the Lamu Coal Power Plant. In the future, can the LCPP be hooked up by KETRACO to tranmit electricity to Vipingo? The harvest(s) of Centum will take some time but they will be bountiful. Greedy when others are fearful. I do not expect much, as in actual cash investment, will happen until 2020. Centum doesn't have $2bn so it needs to find financial (& operating) partners after which there's a potential for value uplift. Greedy when others are fearful. Twitter @PeterMutegi CENTUM INVESTMENTS divests from GenAfrica Asset Managers after four years, selling its 73.4 per cent stake to Kuramo Capital for an unknown amount. Sell the mature businesses!
