@vvs I've just looked at the numbers. They have paid a very healthy chunk in finance costs, so your payback period of 6 years looks very conservative. Just take a look at the cash flow - it is real cash coming into the company, not paper profits.

@GG - Where are my numbers? I dont think I crunched any!

I have Total's Chevron acquisition document... to figure out what the costs for Preferred shares will be... Preference Dividends...

I really have to buy KK. Only one dilema, to buy after split or before split - given the sudden down turn in the market! @vvs - What's my window? On monday, will they be trading pre-split or post-split. I'm holding on for lower prices - take advantage of the panic! But how long should I wait? The market might start heading north just as suddenly. d'oh! d'oh!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

Nothing like the present! You are so lucky to have cash on hand! You can get them between 98-100 for now. Post-split is tough to say BUT I am sure when the 1H 2010 results are released we will see much better prices!

@MM for the longterm, doesn't matter, just buy. For the short-term you are abit late in the day. Should have bought at 45-55 (see earlier posts on this thread) don't expect, to make quick cash in the short term. Chances are the price will continue to fall.

@sparkly - There is life in KK even at 100 for the short-term... The split is coming & I hope they release 1Q 2010 results like Total did!

@VVS, i know you to be a long-term investor, going by your investments in KQ, KPLC. Are you putting money in KK?

Yes, I put cash in KK... but I have little cash at the moment... I was hoping for a huge boost to KK post-split (which I thot wud happen immediately after the AGM)... then buy more KQ...

Of course, even the best laid plans can go awry!

For those who are wondering where te price is headed once KenolKobil breaks it 52 week high which stands at ksh 110.00 (and it surely will very very soon),i calculated the various extension levels that are one its way. What i mean is that these are the various levels to offer resistance (you possible selling point)....First resistance level 120.50 , Second resistance level 127.00 ,Third resistance level 133.49.

If it passes one resistance level wait for it to hit the nedxt resistance level on its way up before you decide when to sell.DONOT sell (because it wld be damn foolish) in the middle to two resistance points as you willnot get maximum gains.

Happy investin folks.

@the deal. thanx for the correction. I wasnot so sure about the date.

And for those who are wonderin what happened to DTK (Diamond Trust bank) shares on friday if you love technical analysis you could have known that the shares were trading very very close to their 1 year high. And once this phychological barrier is broken knowone knows where the shares are headed upwards that is.Around this level there's allot of volatility in both the price and volume and that was pretty evident with the trade statistics of DTK at the days end.

my share to watch out for (and so for you to watch,LOL) is KenGen. It's also close to its tippin point and once broken the direction is up up up up up up ..........The same for EABL . to the bottom line here in very LOUD WORDS is POSITION yourself for gains.....

OHHHHHH !!!!! i lov technical analysis. :D

@ mv . donot tell me you accept your brokers guesses (coz i highly doubt these brokers use technical analysis)everytime you make a trade.I believe even if you donot know how to conduct technical analysis (i also learnt so shld you) you shld do some sort of investigation before you invest.

No pun intended but i wonder where this mentality "Technical analysis = not reliable on the stock market " will get you.If foreing investors do thorough reserach w/ the help of investment analysts why not you.Just change that attitude and make better trades.........

I am just waitin for my cash to clear i put it where my mouth is....Kwanza Co-Op bank is on the brink of an eruption...

and for those who love quick money you can do what is called channel trading with Access Kenya.Yes i said Access Kenya.I know you guys hate it but it can provide you with some good quick cash.if you buy low and sell high.I see a very definate pattern in my charts where it reaches ksh 18.00 to drops back to Ksh 16.00 not once but very many times......How easy is that to make money ????????

Am guessing that Total will give a better return in the coming couple of years, the buy-out looks like it will pay off very fast. Just an haunch

Hi all. @Vvs and anybody who has kenya re, you must b shedding tears coz kenya re is surely on a free fall. I thought it would find support at 12.50 but i think it closed at 11.00. I think the next support level is at yr low of 9.00. Bythaway when is kengen releasin their results. I am torn between centium and kengen . Which one shld i take. Both are near year highs.
