At lease for Uchumi, it can be rescued through a plan whereby the local suppliers can own it and use it as an avenue to sell their merchandise. The brand still has value, used to stock a lot of locally produced items and has premises in some strategic locations but the management and staff has been thieving "Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least." I do not mean Uchumi should be closed BUT it should be owned and controlled by suppliers and employees. Greedy when others are fearful. There is an uchumi too that has very few customers and shelves always empty. Too sad how such a local jewel was looted by management and they went Scott free. For those old enough, they know when new supermarkets came up, they were all referred as Uchumis as that was a synonym of everything supermarket "Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least." This is a small business with no national importance hence no need for GOK influence/support KQ ABP 4.26

How much is owed to suppliers? Knowledge is power , but action gets things done ...
