Yes, but it has to be declared bankrupt, delisted and given over to the creditors so they can restructure it. I do not mean Uchumi should be closed BUT it should be owned and controlled by suppliers and employees.

Very true. There are two local supermarkets in my locality that are always full. There is an uchumi too that has very few customers and shelves always empty. Too sad how such a local jewel was looted by management and they went Scott free. For those old enough, they know when new supermarkets came up, they were all referred as Uchumis as that was a synonym of everything supermarket

There's no better way forward than what @vvs suggests. This is a small business with no national importance hence no need for GOK influence/support

Unlike Nakumatt , Uchumi have real estate assets that can be leveraged to get in a strategic investor. How much is owed to suppliers?

finally uchumi has commence re-stocking of their branches starting today.
