You do all this then wake up one morning to news that principal shareholders between these telco companies are common or that Brookside has bought off your now preferred brand. Bidco can simply sell a targeted and cheaper option for as long as necessary to maintain the market share.
It's a free economy and these fellows clearly little understanding of the income level of their average supporter and how choices are driven by scarcity.
