Someone told me most of the jungus who used to live in Karen left because of the influx of "others" into the area. Is this true? Where did they go?

walienda upcountry, Nanyuki, Nakuru, Naivasha e.t.c

I have one good example a tenderprenuer landed some serious money, decided to upgrade from eastlands to Muthaiga he got blocked by the residents association there because of BECAUSE, he headed fro karen got 1 acre with mature trees and several mzungu neighbours enjoying the forest like environment, okay the problem started when the guy decide to build his mansion he forgot that karen is good because of the trees, he decided to chop up the whole one acre clear every plant, then get an architect to design the mansion, I refused, the mzungus tried going to NCC, NEMA etc but they didn't succeed in stopping the destruction of trees upto 100 years old, so they decided to leave the guy now ives in a stupendous mansion with a cabro paved yard a full acre of cabro paved with car shades instead of trees, he is lonely because all his neighbor moved and left their land to overgrow, the poor guy is planning to move into an apartment for security fears due to the isolation

Too mbad. If you are going to to move in an area, why destroy what makes it different?

But this raises a different point. Does the absence of this constituency devalue the area (because not all people going there are cutting trees)?

"Others" really don't appreciate well planned living zones and the neighbourhood effect that it brings.

Quote:
The Karen and Lang’ata District Residents’ Association has accused Nakuru nominated MCA Alice Ndegwa of illegally putting up hostels in the area.

Zoning rules in the area do not allow multiple-storey buildings. The site is near the Lang’ata South Road, 300 metres from the Nairobi Academy. A resident said, “She is targetting students from the Catholic University of Easten Africa and Tangaza College. These hostels will crowd the area and destroy the serene environment.”

It's good to respect zoning laws.. Why wouldn't Alice settle for two stories instead of multiple.. The way we do things in Kenya shows impunity thrives

If there's one thing I hate it's this chopping down of trees in the suburbs by newly rich guys. Greenery is the biggest distinguishing feature of Nairobi's suburbs. If someone wants to chop down trees aende Mombasa Road kujenga. It's even cheaper to leave the trees alone, so cutting them is a sign that someone is just classless beyond redemption
