@Network, you can try Kimana area on your way to Loitokitok. Very established market for tomatoes as we have all these buyers who flock there looking for bargains. An acre on the more developed left side of Kimana goes for around 600k while the less developed mountain side(on your way to Amboseli National Park-Kimana gate) is half that price but available in blocks of 10,20 or 60 acres.
Solar fencing is advised because of the elephant threat plus you have to sink a borehole, connect power or buy a generator and lastly purchase a submersible water pump and place underground 2.5mm PVC pipes round the farm.
No cost for clearing the bush as you have these sambaas(from the word shamba) from the neighbouring TZ who come in to do the clearing for you and the farming as well at no salary but the catch is you have to split 50/50 net returns with them. They have the contacts of the buyers and have the experience in tomato/onion/watermelon farming.
Should you need a local contact to link you with anyone selling land there, this guy will come in handy, Jackson 0724211610.
Alternatively, you can hire a 1 acre plot in the marura area of Isineti at around 30k per season. A season lasts about 6 months.
Hope this helps.
