Someone told me most of the jungus who used to live in Karen left because of the influx of "others" into the area. Is this true? Where did they go?

Africa's projected population in 2050 will be 2.5 Billion and by that time there will by skycrapper apartments in Karen...and Nakuru & Naivasha. They the rich will have to learn to live with everyone else.

When people started subdividing their 5-acre plots into 1-acres and later into halves, the luster of Karen faded and those who value green suburbia moved out.

It has nothing to do with race. It's just a question of your definition of "peaceful environment"

Same has happened in Kilimani, Kileleshwa and Lavington. Muthaiga is still holding out but only time will tell.

BTW: This reminds me of the case of Java waiters reluctance to serve black customers. Many saw it as racism but it was simply because whites give higher tips than blacks. My cousin worked there and she confirmed it.

It is racism. You can't assume everyone will give you lower tips or higher tips just because of their color. Nkt

Nkt to you too smile . It is classification based on averages and even you are constantly doing it. You do not go through dark tunnels even though that day there may be no thugs hanging about.

Most of the original 4,600 Karen estate is still owned by the mzungus particularly upper Karen. Lower Karen or what we used to call Langata/Karengata back in the day and the plains area are now where the muafrika reside in their 0.5 acre plotssmile . Ofcourse we have people like the Kiereini who managed to get 20 acres(yes the original subdivision of Karen estate was 20 and 10 acre plots).
Areas like Hardy are still white dominated and a casual drive there and you think you are in Nanyuki or Greenpark in Naivasha.
Jana i stopped by Purdy Arms on Marula Lane,Off Karen road with my better quartersmile and we were the only Africansd'oh!
