Also why are these NGOs being involved in political wars?

NASA has ruled out challenging the presidential results in court but sources intimidated it would use proxies, especially anti-Jubilee right groups. They could petition the Supreme Court to overturn the IEBC declaration of Uhuru as President-elect.

KHRC is chaired by Professor Makau Mutua, a leading Jubilee critic who has said for the second time he would not recognise Uhuru's disputed victory. He said the same after the 2013 polls.

Africog entered the limelight in 2013 when alongside Cord, it petitioned the election of President Kenyatta.

The optics of authorities raiding civil society bodies is not good for a government that flaunts democratic credentials.

On the other hand I understand the concern that they are doing the dirty work for NASA, including the widely shared rumour that some of them could be moving to supreme court in proxy for NASA to challenge the presidential elections outcome as declared by IEBC.

My take is that the Govt ought to find a better way to deal with that concern.
It is counterproductive to appear to be persecuting these guys.

Separately, as a Country we should have in place stringent requirements for filing cases with the supreme court challenging presidential election results - e.g deposit Ksh 10m with the court refundable if you win the case.

This would weed out busy bodies in it for nuisance factor.

OPTICS - Did they have a warrant? Do the Police really bother to get a search warrant in Kenya?
