Hi Members,
Is there anyone in the house who has ventured into the cultivation of Stevia? How easy is it or rather what are the challenges/pros

Kenyan outgrowers of natural sweetener stevia are set to cash in following the European Union’s (EU) approval of sale of its extract.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has allowed Malaysian-owned PureCircle, which buys stevia from farmers through agricultural firm James Finlays, to sell the sweetener rebaudioside M, or Reb M, a formulation from the stevia leaf.

PureCircle, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange, has been fighting to have Reb M approved for sale in the EU.

Sandu,
Did you ever get any info on this?
To the honorable members of Wazua republic, I'm thinking of growing Stevia, any one out there who knows someone who can help?
P.S I have a small piece of land that I would want to utilize, other ideas are also welcome.

Think long term, i.e make sure it gels with your vision, stevia is a very high potential sweetner and once the market is made, experienced farmers will do well, we are however in the growth stages in many herbal and agribusiness ventures and a very tough skin, inoovate and market, that's all.

For this piece of land, not long term- I intend to develop it in 2 years time. Its just trial, once I see it is a viable venture, i can acquire a piece of land to do the same now in large scale.
