Isn't that the greatest revelation of the 2009/2010 EPL?

@hoodrat - I guess you are missing the point and am not arsenal. Just trying to bring out the changed fortunes of the club post- CR and post Rooney's injury. Isnt that when the rain started beating the reds?

Will Man-U sell Berbatov? IMHO, if there is one person to hang it should be him. Valencia did step up to fill the 'winger' supply-role of CR but Berbatov failed to fill in the 'striker' role of CR.

"If you had to say one thing, you'd probably say we can't rely on Wayne next season like we did this one. It was unfortunate for us that Wayne got injured at a really important part of the season, because we'd relied on his goals more or less throughout it. So to get to the business part of the season and not have him, then to have him for one game without him having really trained, wasn't ideal." RYAN GIGGS

Most teams rely on one or two players, what we refer to as match winners.

@TAZ, Marty - Wayne deserves the awards that he picked up and we cant really fault SAF as the reliance almost paid off (one point adrift). Perhaps the blues would have had a similar blip if Drogba had been injured at the business side of the league. Luck wasn't with the reds in that aspect.
Looking at teams reliance on match winners just shows you how the teams cease to 'exist' i.e. fail to perform when match winners are not available: Look at the absences of Torres & Gerrard, or Cesc & Van persie or Rooney

MAN-U is a great team. That is why gooners like winston can start a thread when Man-U looses the league by one point! That's the essence of greatness. That any other team can get one point more than Man-U after a whole season has come as such a big shocker and hence this (and many more) threads, commentaries, analysis etc. etc.

Have you heard any serious person trying to analyse why the gooners, portsmouth and other such like teams didn't win the league?? I didn't think so!

As someone said, there are only two types of supporters in the premier league; Those who support Man-U and those who are against them! But the opponents have to find a home (Hull, Chelsea, portsmouth,AssNAll, Burnley, WestHam etc.). It's just like with opposition parties!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@MaichBlack.......we beat you to the trophy....stop trying some stupid "justifications" here.....even if we had the same number of points we could still have beaten you to the trophy on several fronts>>>goal difference...head to head points.....least games lost..etc etc.....learn to accept defeat and swallow your pride....after all we congratulated you the last three seasons
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

Maichblack....I think its about time you realised that no one really cares who finishes second. Man u lost the title to Chelsea so did Arsenal, Hull and Burnley.

The author of this thread simply wanted to point out that Man U can't win anything without Rooney. May i also remind you that all the top teams dropped points this season, Chelsea won because they lost fewer matches, scored more goals and they beat man U, Arsenal and Liverpool home and away.

Am surprised at the venom in the responses. If we look beyond the club loyalties the underlying question is one of team/coach strategies...

For me the beauty of football is in its strategy...not in hating other teams

@Winston true dat the beauty of football. However,i think hate (with a passion) is part of the game. For instance I know for a fact goons n Liverfool fans were the most excited lot, more so than Chelski the champions!Never mind both were light yrs below Utd!

Someone once said that Man-U, Arsenal, Liverpool and chelsea should become the new parties in Kenya! Or was it tribe?

Passion I understand. But HATE, I dont. Live and let live!

@winston true what you say, it would have been a different story if CR and Tevez were still at OT and Rooney fit. Still one player does not make a team. Whether Real will win la liga coz they have CR i doubt. ivory coast with drog, kalou, toures could not win the ACN...
Life is short. Live passionately.
