I feel you. I have never felt so sad in recent times as well.Sad

I have come to the conclusion that humans do not have capacity for some things i.e. comprehension of numbers! For example 50,000 people have died from the south sudanese crisis since 2013. There were about 438,000 deaths last year caused my Malaria. About 450,000 who have died since 2011 in the Syrian Crisis. What do these numbers mean? NOTHING!! NOTHING AT ALL!! Humans have no capacity to crunch and internalize these numbers. If we did... we would act but we cannot so we don't!

WHAT IS CANCER?

In layman''s language please.
Thanks

cancer is when cells in parts of the body start to abnormally grow! so really... it's not a foreign object it's your body's cell reproduction malfunctioning. Why does it happen... well... i guess the list of things that may cause cancer is growing. if you ask me... it's always been with us. some are genetic and so we passed them around. some lipukad when we got to some certain age... for majority of humanity's time we never really got to these ages we are living and these numbers and so they show! some have environmental or dietary... has anyone ever seen this list?

I would invite intellectually curious people to examine the case of 'henrietta lacks'. Why does her cells behave the way they do? We have a lot of crap embedded in our dna and some just mutate and causes the body to behave in certain ways when the conditions are right! Do you know all that crap about generational curses? DNA!!

As any other scientist i still have a microfuge tube with HeLa cells somewhere in the freezer.

@BGL, is there anyone doing research on the effects of Autophagy, fasting/intermittent fasting, zero carb diet on cancer?

Well... Steve Jobs was into fasts and zero cabs diets and sh*t like eating carrots and apples. he was vegan! so...
here is the thing we know so far... EARLY DIAGNOSIS WORKS! try to live a sane life and eat well, exercise but get checked often.

slow down, your steve jobs reference is irrelevant and besides the point plus you cannot be on a zero carb diet and still eat, 'sh*t like carrots and apples'.

What i have referred to above should not be seen as a claimed cure but rather a strategy employed to manage cancer and prolong life where the patient opts out of chemo and radiation treatment, the presentation below elucidates more on the topic above

Maybe it works... I cannot blame a guy for trying anything to keep him/herself alive. Jobs recovery/treatment was made difficult by such wierd eating habits.

There has been a clip that has been doing rounds suggesting that there is no disease called cancer. That Cancer is merely lack of Vitamin B17 similar to what used to be called scurvy which was lack of Vitamin C rather than a disease.

The eficacy of Chemo and radio therapy has also been discounted and they think the hype is to keep pharmaceutical companies in business.

Maybe we now start ensuring we have Vitamin B17 in our diets,we may just keep this thing away.

If Uncle Sam has not talked about it, who are we to. We don't care about internalizing, we only care what we're told. If we have not been told Machar or Kiir is bad, then don't talk about South Sudan deaths, even if they reach 50,000 (10,000 in 2014 alone).

I agree with you Masukuma but I do not see that as a problem. We are living beings and I think deep down in our structure we understand that death is normal to us. We are living only because we are going to die. Mourning is the natural reaction to death. However this sense of responsibility that it is our 'job' to find ways to prevent death in mass numbers is in my opinion shida za kujiwekelea. It is one of those things that cannot be shared the only person whose job it is to prevent death is the bearer of that life. Other people can treat the sick or help someone in distress but to make life saving a goal is in my opinion overreaching.

I think there is a life sucking industry that has been created by the medical profession especially around the issue of cancer as a result of not making this distinction. Mission hospitals have this as their motto, "We treat, Jesus heals." I feel very comfortable with a doctor who has this philosophy and if any doctor is honest with himself he would know this to be true. The moment doctors assume and represent themselves to their patients as healers then they have crossed the line and become conmen.

it's a fairly comfortable position but I am of a different mindset - kinda like what Reagan once aptly put in words
Quote:
I do not believe in a fate that will fall on us no matter what we do. I do believe in a fate that will fall on us if we do nothing.

I think the future is not 'written'. The future is created! We may not have capacity now to change the future as we want it but we must try... this is the 1 thing that diffenciates us from every other organism. We determine our own future - we may not be at a place where we can determine all of it but We are pretty good at determining most of it. I think we as a species will beat cancer and death. Not in our life time but it's something we will do!
