I am certain anybody literate enough to be posting in Wazua knows the relevant meaning of fundamentalist - as used and the context of what is in discussion.

Therefore those acting to bury their heads in sand should summon a little more honsety and quit hiding in plain sight.

@nandwa, you can't fool people when I'm around here. You guys can scream to the top of your heads, but you cannot hide the double standards...

Fundamentalism, according to Webster Dictionary was a word initially used for a group of Christians who believed that the Bible was the verbatim word of God without any errors and mistakes.

According to the Oxford dictionary ‘fundamentalism’ means ‘strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion, especially Islam'

Today the moment a person uses the word fundamentalist he thinks of a Muslim who is a terrorist. Shame on you Shame on you

But why are you giving different labels to the same individual for the same action? Example: ‘terrorist’ and ‘patriot’. Before India achieved independence from British rule, some freedom fighters of
India who did not subscribe to non-violence were labeled as terrorists by the British government.

The same individuals have been lauded by Indians for the same activities and hailed as ‘patriots’.

So we see two different labels have been given to the same people for the same set of actions. Liar

One is calling him a terrorist while the other is calling him a patriot. Those who believed that Britain had a right to rule over India called these people terrorists. While those who were of the view that Britain had no right to rule India called them patriots and freedom fighters.

This is the honesty we expect from you if are truthfully literate...

NOTE: THIS IS NOT TO JUSTIFY THE VIDEO. THIS IS JUST TO ANSWER THE QUESTION OF "Fundamentals"

Just as absolute power corrupts leaders, so does absolute fanaticism blind the people from logic

Mike. If there were no religions there would not be fundamentalists. That's my point. Those two are not mutually exclusive.

You will never hear of violent atheist fundamentalists.

@ham, Dictionary Definition of ‘fundamentalist’
A fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following.
1. For a person to be a good doctor, he should know, follow, and practice the fundamentals of medicine.
2. For a person to be a good mathematician, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of mathematics.
3. For a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of science.

IMPORTANT: He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science, or medicine or mathematics.

Liar liar!

fundamentalist
[fuhn-duh-men-tl-ist]
noun
1.
an adherent of fundamentalism, a religious movement characterized by a strict belief in the literal interpretation of religious texts: radical fundamentalists.

Used as a noun that is the meaning of phundamentalist. Hizo definition zako ni zako, peleka kwako.

@anti_burglar, you harbour misconceptions about Islam.. and this has made you consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair or improper. This is due to insufficient and incorrect knowledge of Islam.

Take for example this issue of definition. Due to your insufficient knowledge, you quickly shouted "Liar Liar". Look at the meaning according to Webster’s dictionary:

Webster Definition of fundamentalism
1
a often capitalized: a movement in 20th century Protestantism emphasizing the literally interpreted Bible as fundamental to Christian life and teaching
b: the beliefs of this movement
c: adherence to such beliefs a minister noted for his strict fundamentalism

Still, you are a liar and it doesn't change anything, Alphdoti liar.

@anti_burglar, how am i a liar... People here can read and they have a brain. You rhetorically calling someone a liar doesn't necessarily be so, unless you can show the lie.

Oh, you don't see how you lie? Continue not seeing, liar. I have not proposed to see for you, after all.

Did you just call doctors and mathematicians fundamentalists? Lol. I have no words.

Example: Fundamentals of Mathematics is a work text that covers the traditional study in a modern prealgebra course, as well as the topics of estimation, elementary analytic geometry, and introductory algebra. It is intended for students who: have had previous courses in prealgebra.

Example: Fundamentals of Engineering
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Fundamentals of Engineering, also referred to as the Engineer in Training (EIT), and formerly in some states as the Engineering Intern (EI), is the first that engineers must pass in order to be licensed as a Professional Engineer...

Example: Fundamentals of Medicine is basic concepts in medicine

You've put it well @mavegs. Everything we do in life, has fundamentals to be followed.

Unfortunately, the definition of things are changed to suite the stereotyping perpetuated in every form of the media, through allegations, gross misinformation and false propaganda, which eventually results in wrong perception about some targeted group of people. ...
