Trump is the magic the US has been waiting for. He is the GROWTH president. #MAGA

Dow closes above 20,000 for first time as Trump orders send stocks flying

U.S. equities closed at all-time highs on Wednesday after a series of executive orders from President Donald Trump increased bullish sentiment on Wall Street, while financials outperformed.

The Dow Jones industrial average broke above 20,000 for the first time, rising about 150 points as Boeing, Goldman Sachs and IBM contributed the most gains.
"People are seeing that the administration is carrying through with some of the things they promised," said John Stadtler, head of U.S. Financial Services Industry Practice at PwC. "It looks like long-term capital gains are here to stay."

"Traders have been waiting for more details on infrastructure spending and now they have it in a very clear format," said Naeem Aslam, chief market analyst at Think Markets. "There is nothing bigger than this. A break of 20,000 for the Dow stimulates fresh capital which has been waiting for this moment to join this party."

Meanwhile Trump is reaping huge dividends after he became president. Smart businessman. #MAGA

Mar-a-Lago membership fee doubles to $200,000

Mar-a-Lago, the Palm Beach resort owned by the Trump Organization, has doubled its initiation fee to $200,000 following the election of Donald Trump as president.

People close to the Florida resort said the increase took effect Jan. 1.

A membership at Mar-a-Lago now includes a chance to mingle with the 45th president. Trump plans to use the resort as his occasional "Winter White House." He has visited twice since his election — first for Thanksgiving and then over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

On top of the initiation fee of $200,000 plus tax, members also pay $14,000 a year in annual dues (plus tax).

The 20-acre resort has a main mansion with more 100 rooms, along with private quarters for Trump and his family. It also has a beach club, pools, restaurant, tennis courts and a 20,000-square-foot ballroom that Trump built for events.

Indeed, shortly after the fee hike was revealed, Barack Obama's former top ethics lawyer told MSNBC that the increase is a "not very subtle exploitation of the fact that the club's figurehead is now president of the U.S."

"This type of naked profiteering off of a government office is what I would expect from King Louis XVI or his modern kleptocratic equivalents, not an American president," Norm Eisen said.

While the company has said it will stop any new deals overseas, it will continue to expand in the U.S. And the Mar-a-Lago price hike shows that it can also grow through higher fees and rates.

At a conference in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the chief executive of Trump Hotels said the company has room to expand in the U.S.

"There are 26 major metropolitan areas in the U.S., and we're in five," CEO Eric Danziger said, according to Bloomberg. "I don't see any reason that we couldn't be in all of them eventually."

A spokesman for Trump Hotels told CNBC that the company sees "significant growth opportunity in the United States for both our hotel brands."

Pollution has eased off - somewhat!

Now we can discuss issues.

The paradox of;
- Trump wish to consort with Putin but his key cabinet picks have a divergent view - actually proposing tough approach to Moscow.

- Trump said NATO is dispensable - again on this, he and his cabinet picks are diametrically opposed!

- Trump wants enhanced interrogation measures such as waterboarding to be re-introduced, his cabinet picks think torture has no place in US operations!

- Trump had said that Japan and S. Korea should stop relying on US for some of their military defence, but right now US defence secretary is on his way to Japan and S. Korea to assure them of just that!

Can white house be taken on its word!

Economists now say the Trump wall will create 40,000 US jobs and inject billions of dollars into the local American economies along the border. Cement, steel and construction industries will benefit immensely from the huge (wall) infrastructure project. 40,000 jobs will be created. #AmericanJobs #MAGA

DONALD TRUMP is a man of ideas. Although critics have lambasted him for some policies (he now proposes to ban immigrants from "terrorist nations" rather than all Muslims), Mr Trump has stood firm on at least one proposal: his wall. A new report from Bernstein Research looks at the economics of the wall's construction.

The border between the United States and Mexico stretches 1,989 miles (3,200km), but the wall itself needn’t be as long thanks to the preponderance of natural borders such as the Rio Grande. Assuming a length of 1,000 miles and a height of 40 feet (12 metres), Bernstein reckon that the wall would require $711m worth of concrete and $240m worth of cement. Including labour, the total cost of between $15 billion and $25 billion is a bit more than Mr Trump's suggested $10 billion. (Bernstein’s estimates presumably do not factor in Mr Trump’s construction expertise.)

As it is not economically feasible to transport cement and concrete across great distances, the biggest business beneficiaries will probably be within 200 miles of the border.

The wall was started by George Bush in 2006, then Obama built parts of the wall, and now Trump is finishing the job.

LINK 1: Bush builds wall

LINK 2: In 2011 Obama said he had built the wall and "was basically complete but 5% finished"

Using your deep research skills can you find out why they stopped building that fake wall?

Every gov't in the US has started building that wall...Somehow, logic prevails after a few months...

Logic 1 - Mexico American migration is now actually net 0...Zero
Logic 2 - 20 billion itatoka wapi...Itatoka ndio, but there's an American going to pay more for taxes
Logic 3 - Illegal aliens now use aeroplanes...Ask Kenyans
Logic 4 - Even the people who live near the current wall including the republican congressman don't see the logic behind it

But for us it's good theatre and comedy...I wonder what else he'll be signing today?

Laughing out loudlyLaughing out loudly Uwongo. The Mexicans own those brick and cement companies near the border. And we know where the labor will come from.

Finally, they will still dig tunnels or climb the damn wall

How Mexico could profit from Trump's wall

I beg to differ, the current fence/wall is monitored 24/7 by border patrol and any illegal detection is traced back to the vast desert and the highways not necessarily at the border itself

And yet in 2015 over 300,000 immigrants illegally crossed the US-Mexico border. No amount of technology can stop these people who are so desperate for a better life.

Monitored 24-7 ? Camera crews have captured people scaling the fence time and again.

The tax will make mexican goods uncompetitive. Meaning americans will buy more of american goods, keeping money and jobs in america. Imagine if kenya had slapped huge taxes on chinese dry batteries, it would have meant that kenyans would still be buying locally produced eveready batteries keeping the money and jobs in kenya.

@hardwood you dont understand the dynamics of the american economy. The farms in america grow stuff like wheat, corn, barley potatoes...the other stuff like tomatoes dhania kale etc ie mboga = chakula ya kila siku, comes from Mexico. One time the health department had stopped taking in dhania from mexico coz they went there on a routine check to inspect the farms and found some workers had defecated in one of the farms, dhania or cilantro prices went as high as $3 a bunch These roadside emotional declarations will only hurt Americans. Trump cant even tell you where what he feeds people in his hotels comes from.

Americans will pay 2 times for this stupid fence. 1 with their income tax, 2 with their VAT. Mexico can choose to slap the same tax to American goods, seriously what does america make that is not made in China and EU Japan? Why is he not passing the same bile to Canada>? Theres a boarder up there too

Some sections of the border actually look like this. The fence ends abruptly in the middle of nowhere.
